This time I think the balconies do add to the building. I love how they extend past the corner. When the railings are on it will be clearer.
I feel Arthouse almost hides it's balconies behind an end wall. This bothers me for some reason. Going after that clean line.
I visited a friend in Toronto and he had a balcony on the 21st floor. Looking up and down the street, and up and down dozens and dozens of people out on their balconies. Every building had large balconies and they were being used. It was like a scene from Star Trek. It was surreal at night.

I think the key word is large. A friend has a balcony that might be at most 4'x9' and its only good for a couple small chairs. I visited someone in DC recently and they have one that's around 7'x12' and it functions as an outdoor room, a small room yes, but----. Fortunately they are allowed to have shades and odds and ends that make it usable; maybe that wouldn't work so well 300' up in the air, with the wind.
