Also, I heard rumblings that allegedly the air rights for 417 & 419 E. Liberty St. have been leased to someone who wants to build a highrise nearby (if I'm recalling how air rights leasing works)...dunno anymore then that but it wouldn't surprise me... that's some valuable land. Landmark Properties did say a while back that they were eyeing a student housing development in Ann Arbor in the next 5 years, maybe they're moving forward with that, or maybe Spark is looking to expand...
About time CA Ventures did something in Ann Arbor.
That must have been what I heard regarding the air rights of a nearby property being sold...

This will wipe out a small handful of properties - mostly detached dwellings of 1 or 2 units, by the looks of it, along with a single-story commercial building with 2 storefronts. Quite the upgrade, and it will really extend the density of the street towards UofM's central campus.

Agree. I was in that camera shop in that 1 story building earlier this week. I wouldn’t consider anything heritage-worthy along that stretch so I’m personally OK with the demos. That whole area can be Ann Arbor’s “highrise district”.
PITTSFIELD TOWNSHIP, MI - Software development company Nexient has promised to bring 300 jobs to the Ann Arbor area by 2020 and has already hired more than planned in the first year.
The company aimed to fill 60 jobs in 2018 but reached 100 with help from a $1.5-million grant from the Michigan Economic Development Corporation. Nexient aims to hire jobs in digital product design, development and quality engineering, according to a news release.
ANN ARBOR, MI – Plans are in the works to build 19 new single-family homes in southeast Ann Arbor.
The city’s Planning Commission voted unanimously to recommend City Council approval Tuesday night, Jan. 15.
The project is being proposed on 3.77 acres of wooded land at 3300 Cardinal Ave. next to Mary Beth Doyle Park.
Five homes would have driveways off Cardinal and 14 others would be along a new public street called Sharon Court, an extension of Sharon Drive ending in a cul-de-sac.

Two hotels proposed for Michigan Inn site in Ann Arbor
ANN ARBOR, MI - A developer wants to build two adjacent hotels on a site where an eyesore of a shuttered inn stood for years on the city’s west side.
Ann Arbor Best Hospitality is proposing an Aloft by Marriott and Home2 by Hilton at 2800 Jackson Ave., former site of the Michigan Inn hotel, which was demolished in 2009.
ANN ARBOR, MI – After a wave of new high-rise construction lasting more than a decade, Ann Arbor could see at least a few more tall buildings in the next few years.
City officials are now considering proposals for high-rises at the corner of Main and William, on Washington Street behind the Michigan Theater, and on South U.
The plans are still under staff review and not expected to go before Planning Commission before June, said Brett Lenart, the city’s planning manager.

The city also is considering a new proposal from the Bloomfield Hills-based Catherine Ann Development Co. to tweak previously approved plans for a nine-story, mixed-use development at the corner of Glen Avenue and Ann Street.
The $40-million project still includes 162 hotel rooms, 24 apartments and 4,000 square feet of commercial space.
The developer wants to remove a hotel entrance on Glen Avenue, reduce the number of valet parking spaces and revise the rear elevation. The changes reduce the number of automobile parking spaces from 252 to 241.
The development team indicated in December it hoped to break ground on the project in 2019.
Ann Arbor is becoming quite the little city. I looked up home prices recently and they're almost on par with Portland, which isn't really surprising except for the fact that it's in the Midwest. Is there any indication that the proposed developments might soften prices, or are these targeting a different demographic?
The Glen site has got to be cursed. Developers have been trying to build something on the site since 2005. The land was cleared for a second proposed project way back in 2007. The current hotel proposal is, like, two years old almost.
My favorite of these is the tower behind the Michigan Theater. The Standard, on the other hand, could use a little work.

ANN ARBOR, MI - The University of Michigan is proposing a new home for its College of Pharmacy that would more than double the square footage of its current home.
UM’s Board of Regents will vote on the proposed $121-million, 130,000-square-foot facility planned for the corner of Glen Avenue and East Huron Street during its Board of Regents meeting on Thursday, May 16 on the UM-Dearborn campus.
The proposed building would replace three small buildings currently owned by the university on the spot. UM Spokesperson Kim Broekhuizen said it’s not yet known where occupants of those existing buildings would be relocated.
