^ If they put an awning under the Four Point sign to resemble a beak, it actually would start to look a bit like a duck or some kind of bird.

Hey I live in the south! Not that part though.

But yes it is an unattractive area. Macleod Trail up the hill, a bottle depot across the street and the London condo behemoths as neighbours. This will be the final nail in the coffin for that area. I sincerely hope that design is a placeholder but based on Manor Village in Fish Creek I have little faith.

It's also a hideous hybrid in much the same way as a turducken is.

Ugly logos probably fall under “design” so here’s Arby’s erect penis (which is probably tastier than the food!)

While at work today, I had to help a client who had just moved to Fort McMurray, AB with directions to an address. The destination was in this building and I almost burst out laughing when I had a look on Google Streetview.

I don't know if anybody has posted this one before but I had to explain to the people beside me the whole Clockzilla thing and they found it hilarious. They agreed that this building is extremely ugly and the tiny clock is useless.

How many god damn "stylistic" touches can you jam into one side of your house??? We've got cedar shakes (possibly vinyl), we've got board & batten siding (possibly just the normal siding installed sideways), we've got faux brick! We've got living in the absolute middle of nowhere, a 30 minute drive from historic downtown St. John's for the cheap, cheap price of $460,000!!!!

What a beaut.

And that fucking twig planted on the front lawn.

Godawful, just like the dreck seen in cities like Mississauga, Vaughan, and Brampton up in Ontario!

$460 K for that....crazy money for something like that. What would property taxes and expected heat, electricity, natural gas costs be?

Mil rate is 7.7% so $3465 a year, plus an additional $600 for water tax. Electric for lights alone is probably just shy of 100 a month (obviously more in winter, less in summer). Heat could be anything depending on heating type. Heat pumps are big these days, no idea if this house has one or not. If it's just regular electric heat, then maybe an extra 150-200 a month. Natural gas doesn't exist here. If you want gas it needs to be delivered and stored in an exterior tank, but that's honestly not super common here so this house probably doesn't have it either.

Plus the added costs of living on the absolute extreme edge of the city. Work downtown St. John's? 25 minute drive (without traffic). Work in the East End? Add another 15. Unless you rolling to work in a Tesla your gas expenditures are probably crazy too.

That house looks like a starter home, perhaps there is something fancy going on in the back that we can't see?

St. John’s is more expensive than Calgary at those prices. You’d get similar here for $100K less. Mind you we are in a recession. How is there so much demand? Or is it just more expensive cause you have to ship everything onto the island?
