Lots of workers on site today, a Saturday - and there is concrete being poured for the sub basement, lots of re-bar on site. All very encouraging signs!

Apologies for the filthy windows/portals I had to take these through.

This site is a beautiful mess, that will give way to a beautiful tower.

what a tight, crazy, complicated site this is. its great to see the uptick in work and also things more clearly sticking out of the ground now, like rebar and pilings.

Love this building-so glad to see it prepare to rise. Not only a great design, but a supertall residential tower designed to actually house a considerable population and not just a relative handful of billionaires and oligarchs.

I LOVE the integration of the historic old bank building into this.

This is my favorite under construction NYC building!

*I even like that they are keeping the funky little restaurant building.

Is that beautiful old bank going to be integrated into the tower and what function will it serve? It is truly beautiful.

Now the site itself is about as messy as I have ever seen a construction site. If, I may make an analogy; like a ladies makeup vanity. A whole lot going on in a very small space. Very organized to the pro, but, wow there sure is a whole lot going on at once. And some very old foundation is about to get covered. What will rise is very ornate by contemporary standards. And the whole, when complete, will be beautiful. Exciting to watch.

...
Yes it is landmarked and I believe it will be upscale retail and a lobby.

Very nice. IMO the most interesting and game-changing NYC tower currently going up.

Yea definitely one of them, I think 45 Broad may be even better but who knows if that will ever happen. Both have been slow progress-wise but this one is more likely it seems.

Major question !!!!

NYguy...First off, just to qualify myself, I'm not an architect and I'm not an engineer but I'm a Brooklyn kinda guy...With that said, does that crane in those pics, DO I DARE ASK !!!!....Does that signify that the steel is FINALLY going up with this tower and can we FINALLY say that the tower will FINALLY start to elevate up ????? PLEASE SAY YES !!!! LOL !!! All kidding aside, give me your most honest answer and if it is not rising, when can you estimate that the tower will rise ? NYguy....Thank you very much for your time and HAPPY HOLIDAYS TO YOU !!!!!!

I haven’t been over there in a while, but the photographer seems to think so, and I would agree. Now maybe someone will stop by for some updated pics.

Not many workers on site today, but there was a line of cement trucks lined up, pouring more sub basement. I only had a few minutes to spare, so I'll get more later, as the crane rises. The most important takeaway is that it's on!

Bonus, Chanukah Santa!

Excellent pics. Most construction sites in the city aren’t active on the weekends. But now people will begin to notice what is taking shape there. There are still many people who I talk to that live in Brooklyn and have no idea. Anyway, looking forward to more pics.

Let it rise !!!!

Now that the tower is beginning to rise, I believe that once the building gets above street level, it will rise rather rapidly. I'm in Downtown Brooklyn at least once a month and I dine at Juniors regularly. I will be photographing it's progress when I'm there. With all those that contribute to this post and on other social media sites, this will be the most photographed construction site imaginable !!! Brooklyn's most iconic structure is now on the rise, Brooklyn's version of the Empire State building is getting closer to reality. This is not just mere hyperbole, this is historic, the tallest building outside of Manhattan located in the outer boroughs begins to ascend and with it goes into the history books of the borough and the city of New York !!!!

Considering how small the floor plates are it should go up quickly. They've narrowed Fleet Street again in preparation but can't completely close it because it has a City Point condo tower entrance. Thankfully the loading docks/garage entrance for City Point off Fleet create a large space for deliveries and thus they won't have to disrupt traffic on Flatbush too much - we all know how bad it is already on this stretch.

I get your point about the ESB, but I would call this our Chrysler instead, it's nearly the same height and has a similar elegant slimness. It's almost exact same height as 53w53 as well:

You can see the staging alcove where Fleet meets Flatbush on the map. Dekalb station has entrances north and south along Flatbush, and this building will use an already existing entrance which is temporarily shut down, but shown in the photo below.
