Was in Gastown on Thursday evening:

Richard Kidd in Gastown is G O N E - and with all arrogance, they have a sign saying something lilke "We are Expanding!!" then lists all these international capitals...YEAH RIGHT!!!

Koolhaus in the old Brothers Resturant is "sorta open" - they haven't finished the building renos but they are still in there, but not fully, officially open.

Oh and there's definitely something going on at the Storyeum location. When I walked by there were probably a dozen people doing work in there, moving stuff around, painting, having heavy discussions. So either a new tenant is in, or the people who bought the auctioned stuff a few months back are clearing everything out. I expect to see an announcement before Christmas, as any business worth it's salt would want to get that location ready in time for the Christmas rush.

What's going into the old Inform space?

drove through gastown on thursday eve and saw them working at storeyum too was gonna ask here

haha

i think B&B Italia is going in the old inform space

also noticed a lot of new shops in that Koret lofts building - seemed to be a cluster of hipsters hanging outside the one store front

looked like a home store, some clothing stores and a salon or wig store is what has opened so far - a few empty stores still but quite surprised to see the retail in there so fast

Danish Living has gone into Storyeum. Will be open Nov 1st - Dec 15th. Have no idea why only until Dec 15th.

I am amazed at how many stores have opened along Cordova where the Koret Lofts are. Gastown is getting stranger and stranger. On one side you have hipster stores and on the other you have crack dealers.

Also on Cordova you have Bonnetta's and right next door you regularly have 5-10 crack addicts sprawled out on the sidewalk. One block further south you have the delightful Pidgeon Park, yet another block south you have the starting to look very nice Carrall Street Greenway.

Soon you will have Salt, Garage and Terminus all backing on to Blood Alley. Funnily enough someone has appended "IV junkines" on the "Lane Closed" sign to Blood Alley.

Irish Heather

I went to the Irish Heather open house last night in Gastown. They are planning on moving across the road to the building that is currently being refurbished. Their plans look very nice and the new pub is based on a pub in Dublin. They should be moved in by May 2008. Sheban and Salty Tongue will also be moving to the new location. I don't know what will be taking their old location.

I spoke to a few other people there and there are lots of rumours about future developments in Gastown. I'll publish these in the rumours section on this site.

Not sure if it has closed yet, but the Yaletown Mavi store will be the site of an Earl's.

Was in Metropolis @ Metrotown the other day - noticed they have an Armani Exchange now. Apparently it's only the second in Canada after the Robson St. store.

Yeah, haven't been in the mall for a while. Definitely ups the profile of Metrotown - i.e. not in Oakridge?

+++++++++

That store called Heaven's Playground in the Commordore retail space has closed down. Merchandise is cleared out and the mannequins are all in the middle of the store. Sign on door says "closed".

hey yeah... but there are too many starbucks in Vancouver now I never acutally notice a new Starbucks... XD I think Global did a news report months ago about the amount of Starbucks in the GVRD, something like one opens every day or w/e.
