I Miss Hong Kong – Photos from 2016-2019

So it turns out my last Hong Kong photothread was from May 2016? Wow. You can see it here if you're curious.

In 2018 I moved back to Montreal but my work took me back and forth. That was a nice arrangement – until the pandemic. Now it's been a year since I was last in Hong Kong. In that time things have taken a sharp turn for the worse, politically speaking, but I still miss it like crazy. I hope I can go back in 2021.

In the meantime, I'll be sharing some photos that have never been posted here.

I've never been to Hong Kong, so I guess I can't say I miss it, but I've missed your photos of it.

A very dynamic variety of the city, thank you.

I like all the clothes drying on the residential balconies! A condo association's worst nightmare in some parts of the world!

We don't have space for dryers in our small homes so typically would hang our laundry out for natural drying. Public housing units tend to have a standard rack installed outside a window but for private estates, we rely on the balcony and/or a dehumidifier.

During the winter months, humidity typically drops below 50% with lots of sunshine so drying them naturally isn't an issue. Spring is a huge problem when we get long periods of fog and drizzle.

Yeah, seriously. In late February, March and early April the humidity is so high that you can hang clothes out for days and they never dry.
