DETROIT | Greektown Casino | 344 FT / 105 M | 30 FLOORS

this is a highrise construction thread on Detroit's Greektown casino Hotel.
the tower upon completion in 2008 will stand at 344 ft, 30 stories, and will feature a 13 story parking garage along side the hotel. the hotel's facade will be of glass. the tallest of the three casinos that occupy Detroit and will be the tallest in downtown, taller than MGM Grand. I'm not a big fan of casino architecture, but I'm putting this thread up.

ok these were from about a month ago so obviously by now it's topped off. It's pretty close in these pics. I do plan on taking some more as it progresses towards completion. I took these just in time before a storm came through (note the dark clouds lol)

LOVE the glass but I'm not too sure about the portions that stick out, though.

I noticed that this thread had not been updated, so here is a photo I took in August 17th of the construction progress. Unlike the previous photos, it shows the east and south sides of the building.

Strange that no one mentioned that a few months back the Greektown Casino filed for bankruptcy!

The bankruptcy filing allowed construction to proceed apparently.

I love all the blue glass against the red brick.

Another example of Detroit's great skyline with so much contrast and color.

I like the multi shades of blue glass, kind of a retro look. That last shot from Deco Jim shows the new casino from an angle which bears a striking resemblance to the old Montgomery Wards HQ in Chicago.
