What the hell...is Phoenix really this crappy?

Just got back from the movies, saw Life As We Know It (terrible by the way), but in the movie the guy relocates to Phoenix for a job with the Suns and they do a shot of downtown Phoenix...that really wasn't!

I mean it had the buildings, 44 Monroe, Phoenix City Hall, Westward Ho...but they weren't positioned correctly. Someone actually took the buildings and photoshopped the skyline.

I mean really, was it just that they couldn't get a decent shot or what?

Huh, sounds bizarre. You should try to get a screenshot somehow if you can.

In the TV show on Spike "Players" Matt Walsh & Ian Roberts (Of Upright Citizens Brigade) play 2 guys who own a sports bar in Phoenix. They show lots of shots of Phoenix, all correct and fairly recent, they include the Sheraton in them for instance.

what does this have to do with phoenix being crappy? Sounds like whoever was in charge of that particular shot is crappy.

I took it as Phoenix's skyline isn't interesting enough that they had to photoshop one to make it look better.

It was probably more just some editor or graphic effects guy was weird and bored. Editors are VERY weird people. They sit in dark rooms all day, with minimal contact with other humans, looking at the same short clips of footage over and over...its a lifestyle bound to create odd balls.

Also, is there a midrise somewhere in Phoenix that says "Phoenix Design Center" on it?

In the scene, they had the actor jogging past a midrise with the downtown Phoenix skyline in the background and a big road sign that read "Phoenix Downtown"...though it appeared to be about 10 miles out from the skyline.

Yes.

And they can get away with it because Phoenix doesn't have a recognizable skyline. And apparently... none of it was shot here:
