Seattle - That one you still think about...

I’m not sure I can easily describe my love affair with Seattle. I live in sunny coastal southern California and yet we talk about moving to Seattle constantly. If not for a few twists and turns, we probably would have on a few occasions. We were up in the Pacific Northwest in April (Vancouver, Seattle, Astoria, Portland) and yet again she showed me what an amazing city she is. This was the first time my wife and I had taken our children there since they were babies so the majority of our time spent was doing typical touristy things (Pike Place, Space Needle, etc), but I did my best to snap photos when I got the time. I have noticed that there is some sort of fuzziness to my walk-around lens (it may be that it’s just dead after 10 years and tens of thousands of photos) so apologies if some of the images are rough around the edges.

Musica musica!

Great pics of a great city. Love the 'Hong Kong' sign pic. Saw that building when I was in Seattle in March and fell in love with it.

Excellent photography as always, with a focus on skylines, high-rises, and architectural details that forumers can appreciate! I especially like the 'urban canyon' photo taken from the Space Needle.

I share your love of Seattle, and I'd move there in a heartbeat under the right circumstances.

Fantastic photo tour. I was actually just in Seattle all of last week. I love it there and we had absolutely amazing weather. I, too, really love the city and area. It's a gorgeous city with an incredible skyline. Even Bellevue has a nice skyline.

We stayed in Kirkland. Such a nice suburb with some lakefront parks that have a nice view of Lake Washington, the Seattle skyline peeking over the hills, and the Cascade mountains.

Wow trust me that skyline view from motor boats yard is a never-seen angle of Seattle, never saw such angle.

i've always loved the look of columbia center but i think municipal center is my new favorite after seeing the facade details; it has such a unique shape as well. agree about 1201, it doesn't do it for me even though i appreciate pomo. also not sure about ranier square. the height is great but there's something off about the facade to me...

seattle's skyline is just ridiculous.

I loved my 3 years there. What I did hate was the super introverted social culture, and the exclusionary nature of many natives. People in SoCal are way more bubbly and open to making new friends. That said, I loved the quality of life in Seattle...and it's so clean (comparatively so to most West Coast cities) and walkable.

I'm turning 35 soon and still want to enjoy my time in LA...but I could definitely see myself living there 40 onward. The PNW is simply amazing.

Great pics!

The stacked boat yard has an interesting past. Someone proposed a multistory building, maybe offices iirc. The neighbors protested because of the lost views. But maritime uses get priority...so instead the owners built a similar-height metal frame for stacked boats, complete with frequent forklift back-up-alarms.
