Up to the 13th floor. Starting to make a dent in the skyline

Edit: Forgot to post this pic with Link and 700PHX in the foreground to try and give the area some context of how much it's changed with Moon Tower in the background. While I'm at it, I am really dismayed how bad 700 PHX looks next to Link. It's hard to tell in this pic, but it looks really cheap. Why did they design it with such large blank walls without windows? The North side looks even worse with even less windows.

Wasn't that tower supposed to be student housing, or is that phase 3?

I agree with you, Crested Saguaro. 700 is just an awful looking building! And it’s so close to Altura (formerly the Link) that from some angles the buildings appear to be combined into one ugly pile of concrete. I really like Altura buts it’s prominence in the skyline has been compromised by 700. Everyone involved should be ashamed. Ugh

Correct. Phase 2 is geared toward student housing. Even so, the design seems...mis-oriented. I feel the North and South facing units should have had the higher window count. The only thing I can think of for the lack of windows on North-facing side is for future re-development of Proxy. But I think that's a long way off since Proxy is fairly new.

Heh. I didn't realize Link had a new name. I agree with it looks like 1 big building from a distance. I like density, but dang. Hopefully, phase 3 has a bit more separation.

Orienting units around and interior architecture when you have all those columns is hard.

But I would recommend checking out the interiors where all that EIFS is. I *hate* expansive/floor-to-ceiling glass in bedrooms. It introduces noise and light, both of which screw up sleep. Why pay extra for a lower quality of life? Because it looks better from outside? No thanks.

Getting tall!

Had dinner at Farish House. Side note: if you haven’t tried them yet, they’re super good!

Moon tower isn’t even half way done and it’s already a massive looming presence!

They are jumping the crane.

Edit: May be wrong. Looks like they are placing the crane sections on the roof for jumping this weekend.

Yes. The Northern half has topped out and the Southern half has 1 more level to go. It's come out surprisingly big for only being 250'. I can see both Moon and Derby from my work by the Coliseum and Moon is obviously taller than Derby...looks much more than 10' taller.

I saw them pouring more concrete on the southern half this afternoon! Can't believe it's topped out already. I can see Derby, MoonTower and Skye from down my street and they all look phenomenal going up together. Love our changing skyline.

Though it's still under construction and still occupy almost all of 3rd st, it's already having a big impact on its neighbor across the street... Thanks to the massive shadow it casts, Songbird's patio has been keeping busy even though it's hot out! Love this street-level activation.

And a bonus golden hour beauty shot:

Moontower is looking really close to being finished this morning.

The color schemes really work and I love the changes in textures and patterns. The glass balconies at the corners look amazing.

The texture on the podium on the west side are really interesting.

Moontower is probably my favorite tower right now.
