There definitely was a project labeled '2100' and I don't remember seeing '2020' before. Then again, how sure are we that this is an actual project. Fitzgerald tends to have a couple of projects that didn't get off the ground.

Fitzgerald Motor Row

That's an old project from last cycle......maybe 06 or 07........actually one of two Fitzgerald designed towers in the same area - I believe by the same developer - that never got off the ground......

Are we looking at the same render here? I'm seeing

1) a design for row houses
2) a design for a brick midrise
3) a design for a glass curtainwall highrise
4) a design for a white clad highrise with exposed columns

some moron decided to put these together with no regard for how the styles relate to one another. In my mind this is the architectural equivalent of my 7 year old nephew trying to cook by mixing his favorite foods together peanut butter, spaghetti and meatballs, kool-aid, and mayo.

I'm glad this is one of the worst designs we've seen in the last 5 years or so. Let's stay on the offensive and even put this moderately confused garbage to rest as well as all the pomo crap that seems to have ceased to exist sans RAMSA and that shit at Irving and Sheridan. If this is all we have to complain about out of the last 15+ designs we've seen, then we are doing quite well.

I'm saying. I happen to like confused messes of buildings (read: postmodern architecture). But it looks like this won't be built anyway. Oh well.

800 S Michigan looks great. Oxford has been pretty good with the designs of its new construction (see London House a few posts above and Godfrey). Now I'm looking forward to what Pritzker has in store for 830 S Michigan.

Yeah, both of these designs are very old...so old that I can't remember the details like whether or not they were proposed by that developer (name escapes me) who fled the country...so really no point in discussing.

bKL posted some nice photos of MILA on their FB

I love the glass on this. I know, people hate it. I do think the building shape is silly.

It really did. The color palette is great, and the satin finish on the facade panels looks great (let's hope it ages reasonably well). A very sophisticated and deferential insert.

George, can you comment on the openings in the facade on the W face of the podium (side along State)? I'm nervous that that is opaque black glass; can you say what it looked like to you?

Those openings are inset showing a black covered surface of the podium concrete.
Looks like windows will be installed and backlit to create an illusion of inside space, IMO .

JuanPablo from SSC created this image that includes Chicago's proposed super talls.

^ Even without all of the proposed supertalls, Chicago is a world-class skyline. That being said, though: build them. Build them ALL.

cool image, but it looks like he's made 113 e roosevelt & 1000 s michigan too tall. given how far south those buidlings would be, they would certainly appear shorter from that vantage point given perspective shrinkage.

they would be nowhere near as prominent from that angle as the image depicts them.
