The new construction building permit for it hasn't had any movement since 8/5 when the landscape review was denied.

^ Just curious, do you know the application#'s for these projects? I ask because that is the best way to get the most up to date info on permit reviews. Otherwise just the address alone gives limited info.

I just received a permit today on one of my projects in Pilsen

Well, the ID isn't on the page, but I was able to get it from the browser and I think it's 100604214 for this specific one.

My six flat with retail is breaking ground now too, though a little further West in "Marshall Square".

Haha, just add about 10 floors to it and we can officially talk about it Very nice though. Can't wait to add it to my renovations map if it's not already there

If you are mapping all permits, it's already on there. It's actually 48' to the tip, so getting up there in height!

I see one that was granted end of 2014 for a 6 unit renovation in or right outside of Marshall Square. not sure if that's it though

Because it's Pappageorge/Hames and they're lousy and uninspiring architectural firm.

speaking of them, NEXT looks to be packing up the concrete forms so it has to be topped out

on a side note, they are putting forms up for cement on the riverwalk just west of wells St. pretty neat with all the rebar and stuff too

Their one design I wanted to get built (http://www.pappageorgehaymes.com/projects/park-michigan) couldn't pass the wind test from what I remember. So I guess even that would back up the claim

Two Loop Observations this Week

1) Scaffolding going up at Oriental Theater tower - looks like construction of its conversion to Cambria hotel might be gearing up.....

2) Walking by the Subway at/near 300 N Michigan yesterday, I saw someone putting up a store closing soon sign. This will be the last of the retail tenants to clear out of this redevelopment parcel......not sure if any straggling upstairs tenants are left, though this might potentially indicate at least a small step closer to demolition here, and maybe, just possibly construction of a new project as well?? Anyone know of any movement here? I'm still hoping Sterling Bay sells to an experienced new construction/high-rise/mixed-use developer to do this project (and if they or someone else decides to do low-rise retail only here, I'm going to lose it, as that would be beyond stupid) - it's not their specialty #1, and #2 - I think they just may have an enormous project coming up on the horizon which fits their specialty nicely, and that will keep their plate full for some time to come (as if anyone here doesn't know what that is)....

It's horrible, actually.
I was thinking when I walked by on Friday evening that it's actually a better base than I anticipated. It's a completely odd assemblage of parts with no clear organization, but as far as scale and texture goes, I think it accomplishes it's aim to relate to the context of the small retail buildings on the surrounding blocks. Now if only those windows were real.

I agree. It looks much better than I imagined it would.

Yeah it's actually not terrible. The street level retail/commercial is better than I thought it would be too. It actually interacts with the street/sidewalk decently if you walk by it.
