Tuesday

Yeah, Aqualuna is looking pretty good, I took this from the new Cherry street alignment on Tuesday. (I apologize for the amount of images, I took a lot of pictures over two days*)

I also took these of two projects going up by the Distillery District.

The proposal

I read somewhere that nearly 1/3 of the intensification happening in Hamilon is from this project alone.

the impact on the skyline of just these 5 towers combined will be huge!
the street level will also look vastly improved.

Nowhere near completion but already the best looking residential building on the central waterfront lol. Can't wait for all those curvy (terracotta coloured) balcony guards to be installed.

That cladding is still going to be added, it just hasn't been applied yet, could be a supply chain hang-up or some issues with applying the 3D panels, either way I'm sure it's not critical path.

What you are seeing on the tower now is the backing that the panels will be applied to.

Here's a shot of a mock-up of a few of the bronze panels on one of the lower floors of the tower:

I took a few pictures yesterday of the various projects going up in my local area. In the image below, you can see three towers going up, two of which are part of a condo project, and the other, an expansion of an apartment building.

To the east, another two tower condo project is topping out.

Hamilton is on fire! Fantastic shots as well - really enjoyed looking at those.

Aqualuna in Toronto - gorgeous!! I didn’t think it would turn out as good as the renders, but it has thus far.

So many 30 floor buildings for Hamilton.
It’s going to really change the skyline.

By my count, IIRC, there are 47 buildings proposed or U/C in downtown Hamilton 15 storeys or higher.

Rimouski has a Veterinary Medicine program?

I thought there was only Guelph, Calgary, Saskatchewan, PEI, and Montreal in Canada

It will be a satellite campus of Université de Montréal in partnership with the UQAR. The first 3 years will be given here and the rest in Saint-Hyacinthe.

Even if only half get built, the amount of change they represent is enormous compared to the relative stagnant growth downtown between 1980 or so and ~2020. The ones that have recently gone up or are in progress have already resulted in a huge difference.
