Nicely done. Shows how little effort is needed to make basic design look good.

I just walked by the completed project this weekend and it is really well done!! Definitely feels right for the area and blends in perfectly along the ridge ave commercial corridor (albeit on Rochelle). I did also notice a lot of community pushback on the 90 Rochelle project. I think Rochelle Ave could work with Ridge Ave and Main Street to be a powerful retail punch for the NW.

That's actually in Fairmount, not Brewerytown. It's south of Girard, and just across 26th Street from the brand-new "Fairmount North" apartments.

Finally! Huge news for the Parkway!

Permits Issued for Alexander Calder “Sanctuary” on the Benjamin Franklin Parkway

Quote:
You may remember back in February 2020, when plans were first announced to have starchitect Hurzog & de Meuron design the new home for selected works of famed Philadelphia sculptor, Alexander Calder. The Calder Foundation initially stated things would get started shortly, but plans had been put on hold for a while, likely due to the pandemic. We had been tracking this project for a while and were thrilled by two new pieces of information we discovered just recently: first, a zoning permit was issued for the project, showing preliminary designs; second, the website was updated just this week, stating that the full designs will be released this fall, with construction starting shortly thereafter.

I can stand to let 4044 go. It's a great old structure but fine, build denser on that site. But 4040-42? That should be a crime. They are quite literally murdering a part of Philadelphia.

Whew, I was worried that this would go by the wayside.
It will be interesting to see how it comes together - the whole Parkway itself is a Calder museum, in a sense, so I hope there is some way to incorporate an exterior view of the Parkway in the enclosed museum.

The old garage/studio is already demolished. Clearly moving quickly on this one.

213-219 41st Street are also included, originally issued for 219 on 02/25/2022.

"Every Demolition Philly" on Twitter is useful for seeing demolition permits issued. Of course, you could also use Atlas.

Absolutely. The only thing I woyld have changed is continuing the brick into the alcove entryways instead of the siding.
