Seems like a silly ordinance.
I assume it will be changed sometime in the future. I hope...

Same. Who knows if this is even a real problem.

I'm curious why it would be seen as different from JHC's crown, from a legal perspective of course. The best criticism I've found through google is that "Colorful Lights Are Turning Skyscrapers Into Tacky Billboards". Nice quick read.

Lights are bad for birds but it seems like all city lights are bad for birds, and they will have a hard time downtown no matter what?

Last argument I can think of: Sears, Hancock, 311 S Wacker, they all have massive lights. But Vista's blow through floor fully illuminated might be by far the largest solid chunk of light in the skyline. Could look bad if not done carefully

Idk I vote lights

^^My favorite aspect of this tower is the hotel bump-out. That facade system is second to none and perfectly breaks up the street wall. There is no room for improvement in that regard.

Why the hell is this taking so long to finish all the glass...i feel like been looking at the same view for months of the glass not making any progress to just enclose this thing already!

How fitting that Vista's best angle is from Navy Pier since that's where the most views will come from! Am i the only one that's liking the blow-through as time passes?

Do you know who is providing the glass? A lot of glass is manufactured in China (even when it is framed locally) and ports in both China and the USA have capacity issues at the moment.

Google could be your friend if you were nice to it.

"Studio Gang had difficulty finding a supplier of thermal-rated glass in different shades. German supplier AGC Interpane, which ultimately supplied the glass, offers a “coating on demand” service which, via a calibrated rendering screen, allows architects to select the color of glass required together with the performance values required."

In what seems like eons ago but was actually only about 2 years ago..and I'm sure many of you will recall this, but for forum newcomers, the GC had a major problem with the original glazing manufacturer not having experience with this type of system, so they had to switch to another company, thus the initial delays in the installation of the curtainwall system.

pooosh - that was just cover for their bold bid to make it all balconies all the time. The market wasn't quite ready for that so they caved and belatedly had glass installed.
