Downtown Moncton as seen overlooking the settling ponds of the wastewater treatment plant on Outhouse Point in Riverview.

Yes, they built the sewage treatment plant in Moncton at Outhouse Point!

In this particular case however "Outhouse" was the surname of a farmer who originally lived in this location.

This is from 2013 sure, but it's probably even more pertinent like this.

The view from Mount Royal has always very, very much reminded me of the view from the mountain in Hamilton.

I've always felt the exact same way.

I've always liked Hamilton. It has a certain "umph" about it. It has always been a blue-collar town and that's OK and what I like is that the city has always embraced that reputation and culture instead of trying to white-wash over it.

The Bell Aliant Tower. It's a 35 storey (equivalent) microwave communications tower from the 1960s.

Could that RBC logo be any bigger?.. shit.. I've seen massive towers 60, 70 floors up with smaller corporate logos on it than that.

Good shot. Even though much of the skyline is missing, it gives the impression that downtown construction is on a tear (which it absolutely is: never has this much stuff been going up at the same time, with more on the way)

All of Southern Ontario is on a complete tear skyline wise. The big 3 (London, Kitchener, Hamilton) all have huge numbers of large residential towers planned and even smaller centres are seeing new residential projects (Sarnia, Windsor, Guelph).

wow, what are the chances?

In a previous career, I once had an employee by the name of Ryan Outhouse. There was a problem with his paycheck, and I was on the phone with HR in Toronto trying to sort things out, with my employee sitting at the table across from me. "Outhouse. Yes, Outhouse...O-U-T-House..." (on the other end: "Oh my gawd, what a horrible last name, poor guy!!!"). The employee knew exactly what was happening; he'd been through similar indignities a zillion times in his life.
