This one is going up. I know someone who is involved in the permitting.

If it isn't happening, they are spending a lot of money for no real reason on permits.

The initial press release about this project mentioned a "signature roof-top restaurant."

I have not been focused on the amenities, so I overlooked that. There are some "costs" associated with a "rooftop restaurant"

All you need is a ghost kitchen on the first floor and a dumbwaiter to take the food up to the top.

Hey! Be nice to waiters, not all of them are dumb!

Quick sidenote: I once saw Lou Reed at a restaurant in New York. He was extremely rude to the waiter. He may have been a good songwriter/musician, but from my experience he was a terrible human being.

Hey The ATX, on your twitter feed you said your source was losing confidence in this project. Any updates or should we write this one off for the time being?

What?

Roughly a month ago there was talk of an imminent announcement.

The lack of responses means this thing is DOA. Would have loved to see this one make it but it's understandable.

I wouldn't jump to that conclusion quite yet.

So pessimistic! With all due respect to my good friend ATX, he's a bit of a glass half empty guy when it comes to delays and long periods without an update. Not saying it's NOT dead -- I don't have any special info -- but I'd say there's at least a 50/50 chance it's still chugging along behind the scenes. In one form or another most of our major towers had those quiet times. I wouldn't despair about this one until we hear more definitive info.

It isn't dead, just having trouble getting financing. M2 still hasn't broken ground on their Nashville Ritz which was assumed to be a done deal. That project is a bigger focus to M2 right now. Regardless of how Austin's Ritz project turns out, Genesis still owns the site and is permitted for a second tower. So something will get built.

That would be good. Do we know if financing has been obtained?
