Thanks for finding when Desmond's was at 141 S. Spring,
Lorendoc! I found the La Fiesta celebration
began in 1894 and ran through 1897 before starting up again in 1901. With Desmond's where it was
when it was, I think the photo has to be 1894 to 1897 -- I'm leaning toward 1897 -- not 1910.
Here's a description of Desmond's store decoration for the 1897 La Fiesta parade. I don't know about
the horse, but at least "high-towered" and "lattice work" might apply to whatever that structure is:

Now let's take a closer look at the streetcar -- what does the banner on the front say?:
I think it says:
LA FIESTA / ATHLETIC (?)
CARNIVAL / PARK
SPORTS / THURSDAY (?)
So, if a sports carnival was going to be at Athletic Park on Thursday, maybe that was this:
