Guessing the bridge and access replacement is key to the Viterra canola facility as well. Winnipeg Street will be a major access point.

I would hope that trucks delivering canola would take a different route to the plant than via Winnipeg Street south. Hopefully most of the canola and the refined product would be transported by rail.

Fleet Street to the East or #6 (Albert Street North) to the West?

That's what I was thinking. But putting the plant in the GTH would be a no brainer, right? Train access (CN and CP) full flow freeway access from all points of the compass. What am I missing?

Here are some images that are more accurate as to what the Winnipeg St overpass will look like. These are from SaskTenders. If you look at the third image, you'll see a bike lane is added to the west side of the bridge. You'll also notice that the bridge isn't a in a completely north-south direction which I assume is for cost savings as the span to make it a true north-south would be quite expensive. I think the intersection at 9th N looks like an absolute nightmare, but I will use that intersection maybe 10 times in the next decade, so I'll never know if that's the case.

It would make complete logistical sense and you aren’t missing a thing lol. I hope to the development gods above that the Cargill is being woo’d to locate there.

There’s still workers and smaller delivery trucks that will need quick access from the city.

Of course. I was focusing on the tandem trucks and B-Trains and the need for an access that doesn't go through Victoria Ave.

I'd love to see those trucks use Highway 46 and exiting at Balgonie instead of going to Regina, but I doubt that will happen. Trucks are still coming into town on Victoria Ave while enroute to Hwy 11 via Ring Road instead of taking the Bypass all the way around. Although, it's possible many of those trucks are stopping at the Husky (now Esso, I guess) House for sleep/fuel/food before heading north.

Great point. I find it funny that our traditional industrial area continues to grow while the GTH just continues to sit practically empty.

I hope the city and province are pushing/giving incentive for Cargill to locate there.

Ive always viewed the GTH as more of a logistics area than a true "industrial" zone.

As for the busiest roadway, a number of years ago, it was actually Victoria Ave right at Ring Road. Not sure if that's still true post-Bylass. Ring by Winnipeg and and between Assiniboine and Wascana were also very close contenders though.

I mean that's literally what is was developed for. Only problem was that all the logistics users wanted to be in Ross Industrial.

I doubt that's really true, but even if so that's solvable by a payment formula which decreases as the land is sold.

If the global transportation hub can accommodate the $350 million canola crushing plant I’m sure things will turn around for the GTH well here’s hoping along with hopefully a Amazon warehouse

When did Regina become the mill/crushing plant capital of Canada? All these plants announced in such a short period.

Well, we've been crushing the souls of our citizens for so long, it was time to branch out.

Decent news for the region.
