Why would the same neighbors that opposed the height (e.g. intrusion into the transitional height plane) of the other NOT support one story?
Nobody buildings two or three story buildings in expensive corridors unless they're driven by something other than market forces (see new Chick-fil-a going up in Poncey Highland). When you factor in roof and system costs vs risk the typical options are: 1. story, 4 or 5 story stick (with or without podium), and 20+. The economics are pretty much identical on all three. You don't often see much more except in speciality markets/sites (see How'll Mill Road, where the land costs were still relatively low and the rents extremely high).
