Oddly enough, this is one thing that the "sprawl metros" can be good for. Though it would certainly be best if all of Houston's downtown was consolidated into one, I have to say it's pretty fascinating to have multiple skylines in close quarters. I took this photo a while back and refer to it as the "Twin Cities shot".

Medical Center on the left, Downtown Houston on the right.

Too bad neither of the skylines are bigger, but here goes: San Jose in the foreground, Oakand in the background...

Is that a real picture? It looks more like a Google Earth model.

Here are a few more of the DC area, taken from the National Cathedral.

The first and by far biggest: DC and several Northern Virginia skylines. Downtown DC takes up the left half, then progressing from left to right after the Potomac River you can see Crystal City, Pentagon City, Alexandria (distance), Rosslyn (foreground), Courthouse, Clarendon (foreground), Bailey's Crossroads (distance), and finally Ballston (at extreme right).

Scroooooollllll------------------>

This one shows DC's Cathedral Heights neighborhood in the foreground, with Clarendon (left) and Ballston (right) in the middle, and Bailey's Crossroads in the extreme back.

Here's the same picture, but zoomed out more so you can see Courthouse and part of Rosslyn as well:

You can also see several Maryland skylines from up there, but I don't have any pictures with more than one in the frame at a time.

It never fails, someone always does this on these types of threads.... Hello, this is an AERIAL PHOTO of NYC. Not a view of multiple "skylines". Skylines, get it? Skylines. The word "line" is in the word... as in "linear". Skyline... ground-level linear view. Not view from above. SkyLINE

Cool. I was up that fire tower years ago... late 90s. Comcast tower was but a philly wet dream.

Always enjoy pictures of Atlanta and Houston on this subject! OKC's two skylines are separated by about 6-7 miles. The best way to see both in one view is from Lake Hefner's north side which is about 10 miles from downtown.

Downtown (clustered in center) and Northwest OKC (stretched along lake) From OKC Metro Daily Photo Blog:

Another with downtown in the foreground, NW Expressway and other tower clusters in the background, from Russian Sam at SkyscraperCity.

There are several spots in NYC where you can see at least 3 skylines at the same time, and some with 4 (if you can see Midtown peaking out from behind downtown from the harbor). I drove back into the city on the BQE today and it would have made a great picture with the early morning sun.

^True, in that case at least put his name.

I was wondering about El Paso and Las Cruces, NM, but I guess the mountains would probably block the view. Las Cruces has one 12-story building and maybe a few others. I think the two cities are about 45 miles apart.

Ciudad Juárez (middle background) and El Paso (right).

love those vancouver pics...

speculating a possible philly/nyc shot, i was looking on google earth and found that it could be quite feasible to have an aerial panoramic pic with the trenton downtown included as well, taken from just to the north/northeast of trenton... that would give ~42 mi to nyc and ~34 to philly with trenton at about 5 mi.

on a clear day, this is actually possible from over 1000 feet. i suppose a helicopter would be the only realistic approach... however their likely would not be nearly enough window room to fit a 180+ degree panorama.

this would also be made much easier if the American Commerce Center were built, as well as the WTC towers finished.

Forum user KCgridlock is a master at this, having produced several. I've saved a number to my personal favorites folder.

Here are a couple of panoramas from my personal favorites folder (we've all got one, right?). Unfortunately I didn't record who took these pictures, so I can't source them (source added for NY image thanks to Novellecosse).

New York, with Brooklyn in foreground:

London:

I was looking for some photos showing Houston and Galveston. I couldn't find any, but surely there are some views. The two are only 55 miles apart. I know that you can see Houston from the Hartman Bridge, and that is about halfway to Galveston. Anyone have any photos showing that?
