This is via an insider. For sake of confidentiality due to NDA contracts, I'll just post some quotes. Read between the lines.

In terms of when the designs will be revealed.

Quote:
I would expect by the end of summer.
By design wise:

Quote:
its not like 50HY
AND

Quote:
inside source says prepare for disappointment.

expect a box with exterior set perimeter columns
Regarding base:

Quote:
the base of the building will be very interesting.
Not going to mention who it is for legal purposes.

Totally agreed, I'm pretty disappointed. Although it is twice as tall feet wise

At the risk of sounding super nerdy I think floor count is an impressive attribute of any tall building. These 1,300+ foot 50 something floor buildings (like One Vanderbilt and this etc.) are definitely lacking in that category, and it's often harder to grasp the real scale of them in person and in photos because of it, which I don't like.

It's the SIZE of the FLOORS. Not all buildings are created equal. If zoning would have allowed it, they could have built a 30 story building and it still could have been twice the size of the current building. It's not strictly about floor count.

As for the layout, this roughly 55-57 story working version was at 1,250 ft. The current tower will be at least 1,341 ft. We at least know it is going to taper in some form or another just based on the reduced floor sizes as it rises (see Schedule A). Let the details and renderings come out.

I should have taken a photo of this posting on the wall. It reads:

Quote:
HELLO FUTURE

Pardon our appearance as we build our new world headquarters.

Our 270 Park Avenue address is under construction. But no worries! We look forward to seeing you right around the corner at our offices at 383 Madison (47th and Vanderbilt Avenue).

Thank you for your patience as we build the new 270 Park Avenue.

Considering 432 Park Avenue is only 50~ feet higher than the minimum proposed height and this tower will be several times thicker it will be an absolute unit on the skyline. I’m hoping for a similar silhouette to the original version of the old Met life building on Madison Park. I also hope for a lovely lighting scheme and a beautiful crown.

I can't believe how long this has gone without a leaked rendering besides the ones of the base.

I caution people against getting too excited. A source a JP Morgan said that this will be pretty staid.

I think i am in the minority that likes foster's boxes. Tower fifth itself is a monstrosity, but i can't wait to see it rise.

We already know it'll be similar to the massing we've seen. Not really that exciting shape wise but the facade looks like has serious potential from the one base rendering.

Boxy isn't a bad thing, the ICC building in Hong Kong is one of my favorites and is barely more than a box, just like this. The facade and height could easily make up for it.

I caution against sources when it comes to judgement, especially considering said source doesn't know what I like. Foster himself could come on here and tell me it's going to be crap, and I would reserve judgement until I've actually seen the dam thing. So, unless said source wants to provide us with a rendering, they can save it.

Meanwhile, they aren't messing around here. I saw a ceiling come down.

I am looking foward to seeing a powerful monolith rise here. Hopefully the tower is jet black glass.
