(4/C) should complement 888 2nd Avenue; being another proposal for the 2nd tallest slot. Both proposals are in harmony with the Colombia Tower. Seattle big three.

Yet even if Kahn does agree to make his tower small enough for the FAA, it’s hard not to wonder whether the enormous structure would be a good fit for Seattle. The building would be not merely one of tallest apartment high-rises on the West Coast. Judging from Crescent Heights’ other projects, 4/C would also be among the plushest — a vertical mansion offering everything from 24-hour concierges to personal shopping and dog-washing, all linked by “intelligent mobile technology” that allows staff to anticipate a tenant’s every need.

None of that will come cheaply. Although Crescent Heights has declined to discuss the project, local real-estate experts estimate that even a truncated building would cost upwards of $700 million, with rents for the larger, upper-floor units easily topping $15,000 per month — doubling Seattle’s existing luxury high-rise rates, and implying a clientele which might not actually exist in the city. Some speculate that Kahn will market his building to the global elite. Others say Kahn believes booming Seattle will soon have enough upscale tenants of its own.

Either way, says Jon Hallgrimson, a broker at the Seattle office of CBRE, 4/C “is definitely a big bet on where we’re headed.”

I suspect the Downtown workforce will be the largest component. Lots of young attorneys, techies, and managers. And empty nesters. The south end of the Financial District is underserved with housing. The sheer number of units and the inclusion of hotel and office uses mean the building will support neighborhood services (coffee, corner store, etc.). As for a "24/7 concierge" that's normal for any residential highrise.

Crosscut is pretty sketchy and biased about stuff like this.

I thought this was going for tallest? It said 1,029' above ground, unless of course the FAA pulls some B.S. and limits it to 959'.

Either way these two plus that other 850 footer planned will drastically change the skyline.

Yeah its aiming for the tallest (4/c that is). 888 2nd had a new design, but had that stunning Gensler designed happened, it would of been a stunning, London Shard look a like that was 1200 + ft.

I really hope Seattle gets this. We need more cities to join the super tall club.

*cough* Sears Tower Seattle *cough*

Though not that bad looking in the rendering....but then again, the Sears Tower is a pretty good looking building. There is some serious potential for a major change to the Seattle skyline, as well as a continuation of a "manhattanization" of the downtown.

I definitely need to get up there for a visit....now if only I can convince my wife that it is a good idea to take a trip up there.

I had the exact same thought. It appears to be tube design but that could plausibly just be accidental.

Also, I suspect that we wouldn't make that statement if we saw it from the ground during the day.

that doesn't look like 100 stories by today's standards. Maybe 70

Woah, I forgot all about this project. I guess I just assumed it died on the vine.

Very cool to see that it's still alive!

Low ceilings on supertall luxury residential towers still exist despite not being as popular anymore, Australia 108 is a good example and there are a few others.

I think NY more than anyone goes crazy with the super high ceilings but not so much other places.

This tower should be about 1000 feet so it's not too out of the question for a residential building. Same with Miami's new tallest.

I counted/estimated around 86 floors. Each of those boxes contains 4 floors.

Not bad, but doesn't hold a candle to Gensler's 888 second avenue. It's criminal that it never got built, or that they haven't used the design elsewhere.

Isn't the elevaion of the 701 4th proposal about 60+' lower than the Columbia Tower?

I just jumped on Google street view and the base of the Columbia Tower and this proposal are pretty close to even elevation-wise. I think they could still theoretically get 100 floors in - they might not have the ceiling height that some other buildings have.

I still think its cool that Columbia Tower has the most floors of any building on the West Coast despite no crowns/spires to bump its height.

I Googled the Gensler project and have to agree with you. What a stunning building that would be! Wow.

Hopefully it will see the light of day again, somewhere.
