That because it's atop the Blue Line?

Looks like 23 of them are in the area bounded by Roosevelt, North, Halsted and the lake, with most of the rest within a mile of those boundaries and a couple in Hyde Park.

I usually don't worry once a project has landed financing. This one did

"Gateway" - Gerald Fogelson/Forest City

NINE buildings, $3 Billion, beginning at Roosevelt over the Metra tracks, extending south down LSD to McCormick Place. Condos. Was anyone aware of these plans?

Bruh, South Loop is so hot right now it has become fire itself. 3,000 homes AND 500 hotel rooms! That's almost as much as the River South proposal

^Yes, I was. It's been part of the Master Plan since Forest City started development...

Not sure if Crain's mentions it, but it will also include a connector road landing @18th St and LSD

^"it will"? Are you or your Gang involved in the development of this one?

Jerry had even more ambitious plans back in 2008:
"Fogelson and Forest City Enterprises, a large developer based in Cleveland, want to build 3,000 hotel rooms, 4,000 residential units and as much as 300,000 square feet of retail space."

..And also originally had his heart set on this:
"..Fogelson is proposing to build 1.5 million square feet of office space, to be contained in a tall, thin building of potentially 70 stories."

I hope those dreams didn't die with the recession.

^ Well the article only mentions phase I for the project, so maybe the unit counts in the article are only for the 1st phase

To accommodate the trains below, the project's nine buildings will rise from platforms 45 to 50 above the ground, Fogelson said.
Those platforms seem extremely tall to allow for train passage. Hopefully they choose someone other than P/H as architects. I don't want to see a row of their towers along LSD.

I was looking thru the Crain's real estate news for the last month. Did we miss this one from about 1 month ago?? http://www.chicagobusiness.com/reale...-in-river-west

190-unit apartment building planned in River West
Quote:
A Chicago investor wants to build a 190-unit apartment building next to the Kennedy Expressway in River West, adding more rental units to a once-industrial neighborhood.

John (Roger) Kelly, a private investor, developer and landowner, filed a zoning application for a 12-story building at 768 N. Aberdeen St. The site is a block southwest of the Chicago stop on the CTA's Blue Line at the intersection of Chicago, Ogden and Milwaukee avenues.

Kelly owns the development site, a parking lot covering nearly 40,000 square feet, said zoning lawyer John Pikarski, who represents the developer.

This is exciting - especially with that Gonnella Baking Co redevelopment, which by the way was just sold a few weeks ago to the developer who wants to develop it...............................................

Just wondering...Is this project going to conflict with the 18th Street Garage planned for that area, which was offered to help move the Lucas Museum along?

Huh. Does anyone know what parking lot this is supposed to be on? I live not too far away and can't think if it. And Streetview didn't reveal anything obvious.
