Hopkins' little slice of area covers more rental buildings and the old Lawson house SRO. Hopefully he can tell Reilly's baby boomer NIMBYs to east and south to go pound sand.

Renderings Just came out on Crains. large ugly looking podium looking on the Dearborn/Superior side. It does look like it meets the street well on State.

From Crains I re-hosted a number of the renderings at a smaller size. The article has very large images

Anyone else seeing this? I suspect a Wolf Point redesign is on the table with these muddy waters.

So it almost looks multicolored on Crains renderings.

I love it. I'm sure we'll see a lot of people on this site crying that it's not good enough...

I hate the base that faces Dearborn, but I really like the tower!

Not seeing that building at all. Two totally different buildings. Love the renderings for One Chicago Square -- some serious badas-ery!

All Chicago!

From skimming Blair Kamin’s article, it seems that as-of-right, they’d still be able to build a roughly 1.2m sq ft building in that site.

It definitely does look like a redisgned Wolf Point. I'm not keen on the big difference in heights of the two towers. I feel it would look more balanced if the second tower was in the 700-800' range. But overall this isn't bad.

From the Tribune article:

"But the tower’s top is being tweaked, the architects said, so it could wind up not attaining the 1,000-foot mark."

I like it.

And I don't know why people keep bitching about the podium. It's been repeated here over and over: parking will be underground.

My criticism of that wee little plaza stands. A bit of an afterthought.

From that one angle you posted they look a little alike but overall nope - not seeing it. Flat tops - check. Set backs - check. But that can be said for a lot of buildings. The size, number of set-backs, texture, window treatment, glazing and statement this building makes is totally different from Wolf Point S. This building harkens back to deco or thereabouts and is a new take classical design. It evokes thoughts of a modern/deco Chicago Empire State Building... or something along those lines

Nice looking building that will blend right in and add some nice height to that area.

I am at the meeting. So far the hum around here has been fairly positive.
