Sure there is, at rush hour its noisy, bumper to bumper traffic and the rest of the day it has semi trucks trundling down it.

I wonder why there are so many residential buildings on Pembina, St mary, Portage, and pretty much every artery of the city then

This is an issue on any major route - not a valid excuse.

Thats a matter of policy. Not a good reason. I’ll tell you why it’s so shit, the residents of st Boniface have created a cartel hellbent on conserving the exact form as it currently stands of the neighbourhood. This anti development attitude is sapping the life out of the neighbourhood. Petty local politics should not be standing in the way of improving an area

The lot sold in April, so maybe there's something yet to come

They’re also building a bike lane to reduce noise and traffic in the area. Hopefully they can make a decent road diet and spur more development.

Really though Provencher would be best served with some sort of rapid transit line whether it’s a bus or tram idrc it should happen and maybe even be a priority.

^ have they decided to add the bike lane to Provencher....i thought the preferred route was a useless greenway on one of the residential streets running parallel.

The multi-acre parcel of land at the corner of Archibald and Mission St has finally sold after what seemed like a long time.

very weird parcel, long and skinny and stuck between rail tracks and busy Archibald. I'm assuming another storage facility?

That whole corner is up for grabs, Provencher and Archibald. If the mushroom plant ever moved, might be able to make something of it.

The elevator site will probably become some type of strip mall.

that intersection is woefully underserved by Dollarama.. can easily fit one or two around there.

the sold sign appears to be for the lot for sale a little further sought on Mission when I drove down Mission this morning.

Having said that the former elevator site appears to have been removed form the Capital Commercial Realty web site

The sign still appears as of this morning at Provencher and Archibald. The City should be buying the property and doing the Provencher extension to Lagimodiere. There is something going on, on the S/S of Mission in the Shell Oil property. Doing some tank removal???

Provencher extension? I have never even heard of such a concept being tossed around nevermind actually being a plan or proposal.

It's too expensive, according to the City, to build a transit overpass of the railyard. So transit will use Archibald. I imagine the same for regular traffic. They can just use Mission.

The City desires and should look at an alternate route for truck/through traffic on Provencher. Such as a new road and bridge over o the end of Point Douglas. But again, it's very expensive.

And that is what seems to be the problem in this Town, expensive...! It was expensive in 1966 when it was proposed to Metro and that was almost 60 years ago. In the meantime, everyone else has been 'living high off the Hog', getting their bridges and streets built up around their area, which St.Boniface has lacked. Most streets there have been 'band-aided' over but never really fixed the correct way. Isn't it about time?

Marion is a classic example. Originally The Marion Goulet conneciton would be a freeway type connection from the split to Dugald accross the CP tracks. That was on the books since the 60's.

Then it was an underpass along Marion at the CP tracks. That one got away from the City and was a bit ridiculous. Got scaled back to some intersection work. Now it's this moving on Marion thing. Which I haven't followed to closely but will read up on the results.

It's a classic NIMBY scenario. There should be at least 1 route through St. B to go heavy (turck) traffic through. Except nobody wanted it in their backyard. So now Provencher and Mairon are both stroads and will stay that way.

Nice to see some instensification there. Good momentum. wish that strip mall hadn't been approved just up the street.
