I just got a flight to NY for Oct 20-23 and somehow scored tickets to The Summit on Oct 21 @ 6pm! I checked it earlier and it showed nearly everything was sold out but now everything is available...? Tickets released late at night, perhaps? Is anyone else going from this forum on the 21st? Would be great to meet some forum members in person!

Every time I see pics or footage of that ball room, I want to see somebody in there start singing this:

I need to visit the deck. It's exciting to be able to get that close to the crown of the Chrysler Building. The mirror area looks like it has some amazing photography potential.

The elevator rails are blended pretty seamlessly. They look better than I thought they would.

I think the Summit as a whole is a great idea but all this glass etc looks a bit over the top and even problematic down the road. I get headaches just looking at the pictures.

KKR Buys Majority Stake In HY Observation Deck For $500M

KKR just dropped a half-billion dollars on a property with a view.

The company paid Related Cos. and Oxford Property Group $509M for a 75% stake in The Edge, the observatory deck on the 100th floor of 30 Hudson Yards, overlooking Manhattan, PincusCo. Media reported...

Later this week, the Edge will get a new competitor on the East Side of the island: One Vanderbilt’s observatory deck, The Summit, is opening to the public and tickets will cost roughly the same amount, according to its website...

I hate to say it, but the observation floors on this building kind of fuck up the outside appearance--for me anyway. Does the clear glass substantially improve the view? From the street, the the top looks a bit of a mess.

I wasn't at the opening, but I think I know how this went....

Manhattan needs skyscrapers also in Hell's Kitchen (Clinton) neighborhood to north of the 42nd street. To fill that hole. Absolutely!!!
