a few shots from the last couple weekends...

most of the scaffolding is down on the northern, creek-facing, side of Mercy Housing block 13E. here seen from the Fourth St Bridge, along with neighbors Sol and Arden:

here the entrance to Fourth St, with Channel MB on the left:

looking east down Channel:

west up Channel:

the little alleyway between blocks 13E and 13W ('Sol', on the right). burned-to-the-bones block 5 can be glimpsed behind, and Strata, whose boarded-up windows are finally being attended to, beyond:

'Sol' itself:

a long look east along Channel from approximately the roundabout:

Kaiser construction seems to have slowed down. here looking south down Owens:

here from the roof of Rutter Center:

UCSF new medical office building has pavers at the ready, as the landscaping on the 16th St side begins to take shape...

...and is seeing some of the signature yellow stone walls go in...

speaking of yellow stone walls, the hospital across 16th is also getting them. the Fourth St drop-off loop is just to the right:

the south side of 16th never had real sidewalks, but soon will. looking west:

and east:

along the south side of the hospital, a reminder how much Mariposa will be widened - looking east, the curb-line of the new sidewalk alignment can be seen on the left, the existing sidewalk on the far right:

still along Mariposa, closer to Third, landscaping is going in along the sidewalk there:

a couple shots of the Gantry (2121 Third)... Third St side:

Illinois side:

the main entrance to the public safety building is also coming together:

Seventh and 16th

in case anyone is curious about what's happening at what used to be called Daggett Place (or, at least I have lost track of its current name)... looking west, moving north to south, somewhat poor quality from a moving train in dim morning light

streetcar loop

I thought a while back this seemed more imminent, but this update says construction on the T-Third turnaround loop would only start in the next year or so. there has been a push to move the location from between 18th and 19th to further south, to encompass Dogpatch, but in order to use federal money for it, it has to be where they told the Feds they were gonna put it.

from around the horn this past weekend...

let's start with Kaiser to get the slop out of the way:

they've been prepping around the SW corner of MB190, approx where the western end of the Commons will be:

the aerial view looking north from the roof of Rutter Center:

they've started chewing up the detritus along what will be Owens, at the west end of the hospital site, but it's still mostly a mess over there

the Fourth St passageway in front of the hospital has gotten some metal structures the purpose of which I'm not sure about

landscaping coming along... this is near the Fourth loop off Sixteenth

sidewalk being poured along the the south (Mariposa) side:

UCSF medical office building entrance

2121 Third, 'The Gantry', Illinois St side. getting a bit more colorful

they're digging over on parcel P23 in the southeast corner. looks like laying pipes, but it would sure be nice if the park were going in over there too

and who can get enough of the 'All is Well Bell' at the public safety building

more scaffolding coming down on block 13E Mercy Housing... this is the corner of Fourth and Long Bridge St

zoom out

Fourth and Channel

Thanks for the updates, timbad. Amazing how much that view looking south down 4th has changed in just a couple of years.

from around the 'hood...

more scaffolding is down on the Mercy Housing block 13E, seen here looking north up Fourth:

the UCSF office building is coming along. this is the Fourth St side:

and a couple views from Sixteenth, showing the landscaping coming together:

at the medical center, paving stones are going in leading up from Sixteenth St:

the sidewalk along Third looks like it may finally get poured soon. will be nice to get that side of the street back after a couple years having to detour. looking north from the corner at Mariposa:

the west end of the site, next to the freeway, is seeing the first signs of preparation for the roadway. again looking north from Mariposa:

2121 Third 'the Gantry', just about complete. I like this one. in addition to what has already been built, there are all sorts of proposals for parcels all up and down this stretch of Third (including two in this shot), so it will be changing quite a bit over the next few years. it's unfortunate that (seems to me) it will be difficult to modify Third to make the pedestrian experience better.

this is the work happening over at parcel P23 in the SE corner of MB (across the street from both future arena site and the bayfront). still not sure what is going on there, but hope it is prep for the open space that will eventually go there.

the public safety building. I find the north face a bit grim currently, overwhelming gray concrete. not sure if that will get any better, but eventually it won't be too visible.

here is block 13 W 'Sol'

another view from earlier in the week:

and looking east along Channel, with 'Arden' in the foreground. Arden is ust massive

a long-distance shot of the Kaiser building, from the roundabout

Thanks timbad, have they re-started the building that burned down yet?

you can see it on the left in the first shot above... they cleaned it up, but I haven't seen much evidence of activity yet since then.

egregiously stealing from 1977's post (via sf.curbed) in the main run-down thread, here is the proposal for the parcel next door (to the right in the photo):

Great update, timbad. Bisnow reports that Sol/Azure has topped out. They also have an aerial shot of it:

of course, as soon as I say that, today I noticed a new crane had popped up (on the left in the pic), which could be for that block. (could also be for repair work at Strata; I didn't go back there to check)

TIMBAD - Do you know what is happening with the 4th street entrance to the UCSF hospital? On the hospital webcam it appears one of the old utility poles is sticking out of the street area of what will be the 4th st extension. In all your walking around down there have you noticed any signs of those poles being removed?
