Except little college/touristy towns and maybe the folks from Deliverance don't have Whole Foods.

Yeah, this is what I've always thought as well. "Middle America" embodies the "American Dream"

Whenever Hollywood wants to set something in "middle America," they almost always pick Indiana or Ohio. So for me that's what comes to mind.

I feel Ohio is a little too far east. Too many Catholics, too many Slavs and ethnics. Maybe western, cornbelt Ohio fit.

Indiana, OK, but downstate Illinois and Iowa seem to fit too, especially for Hollywood. Even Kansas and Nebraska and Missouri are frequently used, though those seem to be a bit off (IMO).

^ meh, whatever hollywood wants to film in those states they could film just the same in nw ohio. and it would be the same stereotypical protestant whitey farmer people.

the broader mix elsewhere in the state, the heart shape and its geographic placement trumps all the rest. ohio has it all. if you had to chose a state clearly its the one.

hell, if you had to chose one state to rep all of america its the one.
