Hey, I guess we should be really very thankful Lucien Lagrange couldn't get his hands on this in time!

^ Interesting. We haven't seen many of those around these parts, have we? It's typically the truck-mounted variety.

At any rate, folks wondering what's going on with groundbreaking here. CRG (and Shappack in a JV, though my assumption is that in terms of the actual developer here, this is mainly a CRG joint - correct me if someone has deets on structure) must be having a real challenge landing financing because of the office component. I've been wondering about this....do they make it a phased development now instead? Financing for spec office is really scarce right now, and of course quite a bit more expensive than it was not all that long ago (and let's be honest, the standard in Chicago has long been - even in 'easy' debt capital times - you land an anchor tenant, then you land your financing. There may be exceptions, but they are exceptions.

I don't think there's anything going on? I see one small Earth mover, but no other indications of movement, unless someone knows differently.

I'd be cool with a redesign on this one. The central location would be a great spot for West Loop's first supertall

It'd be awesome if the West Loop could get a supertall within the next 10 or so years when the place fills in.

Strange. Appears they are now paving a portion of the lot per the webcam.

Heard some unconfirmed scuttlebutt about a new JV partner taking a hard look at this one.
If true, I wouldn't be surprised if we saw a redesign in the not too distant future.

This is why I continue to be skeptical of any additional groundbreakings of ANY highrises in the city that are anything but purely residential or hotel units. There's still a demand for more people to move into rental units as people still see Chicago as an amazing place to live. Same goes with hotel units. However, anything involving office space right now, to me, is automatically put into the "I'll believe it when I see it" category.

Isn't this hotel + residential? That's what it says in the first post.

Damn, I really liked this design, unless it gets taller and prettier (obviously not holding my breath) they should just leave it as is.

350,000 square feet, about half of the total space, is dedicated to office
