My guess the developer needed more square footage after maxing out on height like with most podiums.

I guess I'll have to take your word for it. All i see in that is the standard three floor podium, not the six floor choad above it.

Not sure if Belmont street qualifies as a canyon, it's definitely a weird street that showcases an odd mix of late 30-50's internationalism and a 19th century cathedral.

Reminds me of Batman - The Dark Night opening shots. Toronto can easily, and I'm sure it often does, stand-in for Chicago or New York.

So cool to see those heritage buildings still standing (or are they just facades?) Just too bad none can be seen in skyline shots.

That's King Street moving from west of Bay to east of Yonge. All of those buildings are complete structures, from the old Scotiabank HQ through Commerce Court North to the old Royal Bank building on Yonge.
