According to Ori on Facebook there will be a Lidl built in the old Asian Plaza at 16th and Carpenter.

This is in addition to the Aldi coming further down Washington will really give this area a lot of supermarket options.

Also continued rumors about the Whole Foods moving from South St to Broad St eventually. Ideal scenario is for a Trader Joes to replace the Whole Foods on South.

A lidl at 16th? Isn't Ori also putting an aldi at 22ndnand Washington (wish it was trader Joe's)? Then there's the heirloom market at 23rd and Bainbridge which is nice, though i'm bummed they stopped carrying high street on market bread.

Not complaining about all the grocery options but it's too bad it isn't more distributed around.

Yes an Aldi is going into one of his projects on 22/Washington.

The best part about this project is that they kept the mature street trees. Lincoln Square, which is a great project for that area, chopped all of their street trees on Broad Street down. I wish Philly had NYC regulations/fines for keeping street trees.

Curious as to what the steel girders are outside of the cement walls. Almost look like a modern flying buttress, but it takes up most of the sidewalk. Surely those are temporary?

They're temporary, it's a scaffold shed to use for sidewalk protection and build scaffold on top for the façade work.
