Atlanta - New Vantage Points 1

Atlanta 2011 Recap Part III

I apologize in advance for the lower quality, I added watermarks. See Part I here and Part II here.

Prepare to be inundated for the rest of the year! Hopefully this will be Atlanta like you have never seen. Trying to capture the city for exactly what it is – a large, southern metropolis transitioning to something more urban/cosmopolitan. Some photos taken with an old point and shoot.

Incredible! Despite the many Atlanta threads I've seen here and having visited myself, there were so many parts or angles to the city I've never seen. Thanks!

Quite comprehensive of Downtown and Midtown with some Buckhead and Decatur thrown in. Great appreciation for the different angles/perspective and descriptions.

Nice thread, with a very nice collection of pictures.

Very nice architecture and urban landscapes. Snowy pictures are beautiful.

Congrats and greetings from Madrid, Spain!

Thanks everybody! I plan on posting one more set of 102 either before year's end or in early January. Stay tuned...it will be completely different.

I LOVE the aerial in #49 (@10th and Piedmont). Post Properties did an excellent job with that corner. I love the mixture of the density and the trees, which Atlanta is starting to do very well. I can't wait until those other under utilized corners get activated. With that said, it looks like the city is really starting to gain a critical mass of density along some of the busier corridors. Also, thank you for the excellent coverage Simms!

^I agree! I used to live in Post Parkside, and from the ground you don't really realize the density of the area. The condos and apartments are really packed in - although there's one condo building that has been sitting unfinished for several years now.

Yea, Post seems to be able to do density on a more fine grained, human scale. The density is there, but its' executed in such a way that there is no feeling of congestion. Also, I love their aesthetics. Post Riverside is another one of their local developments that I really like. I'd like to see more infill developments of this caliber (and also Glenwood Park) going up in Atlanta and becoming standard, particularly along the Beltline and other highly visible corridors.

This was excellent! Superb coverage! Your pics have shown me a side of Atlanta I wasn't quite familiar with. Thanks for the eye opening experience!

Great series. It's amazing how much the Buckhead skyline has grown since the last time I really spent time in the area. I've always loved Midtown, it has a great mix of modern and classic architecture.

I like the post-bellum mansion Madoff chose for himself. Looking forward to your next set. Thanks!
