Sterling Bay's West Loop proposals look decent - will change the area for the better. Will be interesting though to see what type of commercial and retail they would attract other than the movie theater. Buildings are a bit boxy though some of the things they're proposing at the street level are kind of good in a way.

Envisioned as a hotel and condominium tower sheathed in steel and glass, the new skyscraper would soar to a height of 1,388 feet, downtown Ald. Brendan Reilly and a source familiar with the plans confirmed. That would be a foot shorter than the hotel-condo high-rise
Edit: I thought the trump tower was 1,388 feet tall.

Overall I like the look of the project especially 345 Morgan and 330 Green. Yea, the parking podiums are a disappointment but as far as podiums go they look not all that bad.
^ I like how a few of the buildings meet the street. I'm hoping that they will be smart enough to divvy the retail/commercial spaces up instead of having just 1 or 2 big spaces that aren't divisible. Also, it would be nice to see those spaces not shut down at 7pm since most of this is office space. Something that stays open until at least 10pm if it's more food type of space would probably do the neighborhood well.
I think this is supposed to complete in 2020 1Q - or at least the first phase. I can't imagine what West Loop will be like in 5 years if even half of the stuff that's been proposed is built by then.

The 'kinetic screen' on 333 could end up being pretty cool. I forget which airport I recently saw one, but the effect was quite nice. Sublte, but interesting as the wind changed it.
^ What is the point of that stepping up to the right?
The move theatre/retail building is a bit of a letdown. Looks too much like an office building. I would've preferred something a bit more visually interesting.

I love that movie-theater building on Morgan next to the Ace Hotel. I wonder if those are ETFE pillows wrapping the building like Allianz Arena? If they glow at night, that would be so friggin' sweet.
Also, as a Pink Line rider, that will become my default choice of theater if built... so many great options for pre/post show dining and drinks...

This area is growing so rapidly I would love to have those surface rail Metra tracks put in a trench and a half mile linear park constructed above, stretching from Racine to Halsted, lined with a mix of condos, apartments, and office buildings on both the north & south sides of the park. It just seems likely to become a very pedestrian heavy area and surface heavy rail tracks aren’t an ideal mix. Could the city, in exchange for approving developments lining the rail corridor, push developers to contribute funding for future construction of a rail trench and park development above? Maybe something similar to the park Boston developed downtown after the big dig moved the interstate underground. Park space is rather limited in this neighborhood anyway.
