the Warehouse food hall is now open (pic by me):

picture was taken the day before the grand opening. the new concert hall around the corner also broke ground a week ago, and a new movie theater complex will be moving into the older cineplex odeon facility.

additional restaurants are scheduled to open in this area in the fall, which would bring the number of bars, restaurants, wine bars, and coffee shops in that 4-block area to about 25.

Micron has filed an application for a new 7-floor, 124-foot tall office building for its corporate campus on the eastern edge of the city.

According to the Idaho Statesman, the 524,000 sq feet building will make room for an additional 2,000 employees. The campus currently has over 7,000 employees.

No renderings or timeline are available.

another project proposal from Roundhouse, this one would include a 6-floor apartment building on Myrtle and a 12-floor hotel on 5th and Broad. this is a very preliminary proposal that would still have to go through multiple approval processes.

the 19-floor London project was proposed for the block just north of the hotel. Both would replace empty lots and add good density to the SE side of downtown.

massing image below and additional details are available from Boisedev.com:

Micron just announced plans to build a new $15 billion memory fab facility in Boise which will bring in thousands of new jobs. this is in addition to the new 7-floor office building planned for the same location. from KTVB:

Quote:
"With the anticipated federal grants and credits made possible through the CHIPS and Science Act as well as the incentives provided by the state of Idaho and the support of the governor, the new fab will create over 17,000 new American jobs, including approximately 2,000 direct Micron jobs, by the end of the decade," Micron said in its news release.

Micron broke ground on the new 600,000 sq ft fabrication facility at its east Boise campus. construction can't start until the permits are filed and approved, but the company did say they expect the facility to be up and running by 2025.

couple of updates in this week's Idaho Statesman:

1 - the Avens on the west end of downtown is about to break ground. image from the Statesman:

the city is hoping this is one of many projects that will spur development in the West End, which has long been an area of blight and empty surface lots for years. there are multiple other residential proposals for the area; the Avens is the first to move forward.

2 - Boise State has plans to construct an on-campus, 8-floor student dorm that would be 100ft tall. No details, including location and timing, have been revealed.

Fire Station 5 proposal for West Downtown looks to include affordable housing as part of the development.

Quote:
Station 5 is Idaho’s busiest station! The proposed structure will replace the existing station that has served the City for over 60 years. The new project will help better serve the community and improve the health and safety of firefighters.

In addition to planning and design for a new fire station the design team looked at ways for the City to increase affordable housing stock by better utilizing this half block in West Downtown.

progress is being made on the new YMCA project. the first of two DDAs has been approved:

Quote:
Commissioners unanimously approved the Development and Disposition Agreement (DDA) for the Block 69 North Workforce Housing Project with a development team led by Edlen & Company and deChase Miksis. The Block 69 North site on State Street is planned as the future home of a seven-story, approximately 220 unit mixed-income residential building.
rendering from CCDC:

the second DDA for Block 68 will include the 20-floor residential tower and Mobility Hub.

construction for Block 69 is expected to begin next year.

a number of projects received design review approval this week.

15-floor dual brand hotel (image from boisedev.com):

23-floor Ovation apartments (height increased from 19 floors and had a minor redesign):

The Fletcher, a large apartment proposal on the West End, had a redesign:

additionally, here's a first look at the 7-floor office building on the Micron corporate campus. this was announced prior to the $15-billion fab expansion.

another West End residential project getting closer to reality at 2600 Fairview.

all of these projects on the West End will dramatically transform an area now full of empty lots into a dense residential neighborhood. All proposals so far also include ground level retail space, and all have a close connection to I-184 and the Greenbelt.

Micron news... they filed their plans for their $15 Billion expansion on their east Boise campus, which will include over 6.5 million square feet of space and double the size of their current campus.

the largest building will be the four-floor, 160-foot tall Fab plant that will have 4.85 million sq ft of space.

Image from Boisedev.com:

interesting to note that the new office building mentioned a couple of posts ago is a separate project, but that will add an additional 440,000 sq ft of space and a podium-style parking garage with room for 3,179 cars.
