Great shots Solar. That first one of 833 shows what an impact it will make one the area. So much activity all over.

Does anyone remember this one? Is this the hotel? I may have completely missed this.

If I'm reading the Curbed article correct. Part of the 165 Des Plaines deal includes upfitting the loft building at 156 N Jefferson for residential.

AMEN!

des plaines is one of the most heavily surface-lotted streets anywhere downtown. it still has a LONG way to go, but every little bit helps.

Good news about that Des Plaines project. Saw them doing soil testing months ago and wondered what was going in.

I like the treatment planned around the monument and the design of the Desplaines building. Definitely a win!

Tower looks good, and even better news about the building on Jefferson being saved - I've always been worried about that one.

Great news on both counts! I would hate to see that building bite the dust as well.

^^^ It's projects like this that make me like this boom more than the last even though we still aren't seeing the larger scale projects that were so common 10 years ago. This midrise does just as much to improve this section of downtown as some 700' condo tower would. The reuse of that handsome loft building is just a bonus. There are still a lot of lots in that area, but this particular one "completes" not only this corner, but connects several fairly complete blocks of historic buildings and newer highrises together.

^ Agree....it's a nice little project with a meaningful impact. Also, I love when these as-of-right projects come right out of seemingly nowhere with near-term launches......nice surprise, and I also get a somewhat perverse little kick out of the alderman not being able to (legally, although this sometimes unfortunately isn't even enough of a deterrent!) do anything about it - or at least to influence it, hold power over its moving forward, etc......even though he/she would undoubtedly want to for any project of this size (or to be honest, even of quite a bit smaller size)..........

Good stuff

Riverline - It's Thread Time

Agree - I think Riverline easily is deserving of its own thread.......as deserving - probably more so in my view - as any current/proposed Chicago project that does have its own thread. This is one of those truly transformative developments that will really positively and completely change a section of downtown Chicago......big vote from me to give it a thread now that site prep seems to have commenced.....

the riverline is a pretty big deal.

whoever wants to gather together the pertinent renderings, site plan, and project info to start a thread in the highrise proposals sub-forum, i say go for it!
