I don't know if starts includes fall basement pours for spring framing in the fall totals, or the spring totals. That could pump the numbers in the fall or in the spring depending.

Housing starts are nowhere near as high as they need to be to meet demand: https://www.macleans.ca/longforms/ca...-housing-2021/

A 2x4 last year was $2.50 +/- yesterday at Home Depot $10.50

That’s a big problem if one has pre sold in 2019/2020...

many new builds aren't advertised on Realtors.ca, there's are 100's unders construction in Sage Creek & Bonavista (areas south of Island Lakes). It blows my mind how many are under construction.

Lots of new houses in Prairie Pointe (with a view of Brady dump!) under construction. New streets going in and a new development @ Waverly and Bison Dr. starting including 2 new schools.

And that's without counting the stuff up McPhillips and in Transcona.

To add, if you see new houses listed on Realtor it likely means the market is slower as the builder built the house without anyone in mind and is trying to sell a finished or partially finished house on the market. The low amount of listings probably means they have enough houses bought pre-construction that they don't need to or don't have the capacity to be building houses before they're sold

Not in colour, but an indication of what the Carlton St walkways connecting the RBC Convention Centre to Lakeview Square will look like once re-clad. I like that they are going really transparent with the glazing. They are planning to expose most of the structural elements on the two walkways.

It's about time they redo those, they look horrendous. Is Lakeview getting some love too? Because that's definitely not the current signage for Thomas Hines.

I'd love to see the old red and navy parts of the RBCCC repainted, they look so outdated, but not holding my breath considering they'll likely go 2 years with almost no revenue.

Considering the current RBCCC skin was intended to mirror the design selected for MTS Centre, at the time, before it was changed after final selection to what was built, it is definitely time for a refresh.

Surely they're being paid for holding a months-long continuous "event"?

Pollard family is moving forward with their housing-first apartments for homeless Winnipeggers. Construction is supposed to start this summer at 390 Ross.

It's interesting looking at that site on Ross through Google Streetview... there are hardly any older homes around there. It looks like it's all post-1970s infill construction. It's a relatively new looking block considering it's probably one of the oldest streets in the city.

Ah, OK... yeah, a bit of cladding would make it consistent. I don't know why they painted that concrete blue either not all that long ago, concrete always looks better in its natural state.

Would be interesting to see what it might look like.
