The Northwest Indiana Regional Planning Commission is seeking a $23 million Federal DoT RAISE grant to help complete the Marquette Greenway. This is the fourth attempt at such a grant. If approved, the funds would be used to help connect various trails from Chicago to New Buffalo, MI along the Lake Michigan shore line -

Time to add Elkhart - South Bend's neighbor to the east and Northern Indiana's 5th largest city - into the mix.

The River District is a large, mixed-use, new-urbanist development plan that is being implemented in phases. The redevelopment is focused along Jackson Blvd.

The plan is intended to expand Elkhart's downtown, with a primary focus on increasing residential opportunities. Elkhart has a a large commuter workforce (~ 40,000) and the city is trying to attract some of that workforce to live within Elkhart. Here's a link to some of the recent projects in the district.

This 45,000 SF, mixed-use office+ retail building is currently u/c at the corner of N Clark St. & E Jackson Blvd.. It features Class A office space and a rooftop terrace -

Shady Creek Winery is undergoing a $2.5 million expansion. Work began back in February when new owners initiated their plans to add event space, a barrel room, private tasting rooms, retail shopping, exterior lounge spaces, and a complete site redesign to the existing business. Here's a relatively big one that wasn't on my radar (until now). Fort Wayne International Airport is expanding and rehabilitating its West Terminal. The $47 million project is intended to modernize the facility and increase capacity. It broke ground in May - you can read more about it here -
