YMCA redeveloping downtown campus, project to feature Nashville’s tallest building

Quote:
NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) — The YMCA of Middle Tennessee announced plans to turn its downtown location into a 100,000 square-foot, 60-story residential tower.

The redevelopment will take place at the YMCA’s Church Street location, which sits on 0.90 acres. After an extensive request for proposal (RFP) process, the YMCA finalized a non-binding letter of intent with Giarratana Development. The project with Giarratana is still pending final approval.

The 60-story residential portion of the YMCA redevelopment is set to be 750-feet tall. The building will top Nashville’s highest buildings, which includes the 617-foot AT&T building and the 522-foot 505 Nashville building.

That's the nicest YMCA I've ever seen... the tower isn't half bad either!

^Same developer, different location... but that one likely won't happen due to the inability to get a deal done for the lot with the city. This new proposal does kind of seem like a rehashing of that previous proposal though, I agree.

Without paying attention to the location and Manitopiaa's comment, I thought they were the same project. I like the facade of the YMCA tower more, but the top of the one he posted is a little more interesting, though, I think the YMCA top will stand out more because of the contrasting light.

Much better-looking than the city's current tallest building. Get it built!

That is our max height until the FAA changes the rules for us. We will need to extend one of our other runways to 12,000’ and will probably add another runway in the near future.

The extension is planned for BNA to get the Asian flights that are planned for the coming years.

Once the runway extension is done maybe the height restriction will be lifted and we can get the 1000 footer we want. I think this is the tallest that Tony G will go in Nashville and he will have his hand full with four major projects in the works in one form or the other at the same time.
We are now attracting the attention of developers from Miami, Chicago and many other cities, so I look for one of those to build our next tallest.

Update On The 60-Story Tower Addition At The Downtown YMCA

Quote:
A request for concept review was submitted in December for the proposed 60-story tower. The site required modifications to the street character requirements, below-grade parking, and encroachment of the build-to zone. Staff recommended approval of the modifications with further coordination with TDOT and the DTC.
