Thanks for that! So I guess the rotating sign that was destroyed in a tornado in the late 90s wasn't the original sign? (Edit: maybe I'm thinking of the wrong tower)

Another thing that caught my eye was a story on page 2 about the alcohol consumption habits of teenagers. Won't someone think of the children! I love opening up these old newspapers. But I digress...

Sherwood Village had a real butcher shop before the frozen pre-packaged place opened. They always gave me a chunk of european weiner to eat when we went in.

Sherwood and Normanview both had record stores.

Sherwood also had a Fannys Fabric, a Saan, and a Met.

Normanview had Jim Ellam's Sporting Goods.

Sherwood also had a Dominos pizza/arcade that was A+ for birthday parties.

^^
That Dominos came much later...like late 90's. There was another arcade in the 80's with a shady exterior entrance only. Looked like the typical arcade you would see in 80's movies.

Yes, it was tucked in behind the food court.

I was just a kid in the 80s and didnt live in the north end. Does anyone know which mall was better (Sherwood Village Mall or Normanview Shoppin Centre) in terms of more stores, better stores, better food court, busier?

I know the answers can be rather subjective.

They were both kind of dumps but Sherwood was newer and had more of a "mall" feel with a food court and things. Normanview always felt like a strip mall with a bit of indoor mall added on. Before Zellers opened up at Normanview it really was just a strip mall with a bit of indoor mall on one end.

Smile New "Experience Regina" tourism board

Recently, thanks to another blunder by council, there have been many vocal haters of our City of Regina coming out of the woodwork. They perpetuate stereotypes and accentuate the negative forgetting all about who we are as a people. I made this short video to remind them. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0IZqNhn3Dqg
