I’ll be shocked if any developer buys that land over a cost equivalent of a 5 over 1 development.

Via Avanti Complex

Via Avanti Complex coming along in Sherman Oaks. Shoring seems to be finishing up. Maybe we will see steel come up soon after.

*Just* a massive park? I love parks(!), but is no new housing being considered for this plot? For instance, a human-scaled wall of apartments and townhouses ringing the park on several sides? A plan like that would still have plenty of open space, but, like we need housing.

(Sighs) This feels like a clever way to prevent housing production in Santa Monica by making it an oversized amenity that is difficult to challenge against (in this case, a park).

14130 Riverside Drive in Sherman Oaks

14130 Riverside Drive in Sherman Oaks, CA at former Sunkist HQ. A good amount of above ground work. The project is starting to take shape.

Great news for both! I'd love to see Sunset and Western urbanize.

Urbanize Los Angeles has a mostly negligible update on Hallasan in Koreatown, but one photo showing the cladding going up is worth posting:

A reminder of what the finished project should look like:

No pictures as I was late for a lunch, but there was a soil testing rig drilling into the surface lot on the corner of 2nd and Santa Monica in downtown Santa Monica yesterday. Could be a sign this one is finally moving forward...

Hmm, its possible. My company is involved and they are moving forward on it. But I think it's kinda early imo. But its alive.

Some really interesting projects could start construction in LA soon. granted, these aren't in downtown tho.

I don't think there's been activity on this proposal since the recession

since I'm rarely in this part of LA, I didn't realize this hotel had opened...several yrs ago, in fact. I just know that its neighbor, the beverly hilton, is a 1950s era hilton, from around the same time the statler hilton was built in dtla...now the wilshire grand.

Video Link

connecting dtla by the subway with areas further west along wilshire blvd...& the westside to dtla...is long overdue.

^ The views from the Waldorf are amazing. It's one of the best places to have a drink after the rains. Which would be perfect for Monday of next week.
