Another view of 600 South Tryon by @LincolnHarrisRE. I’m excited to watch it rise from a block away and I’m hopefully the 20K square feet of retail will be better integrated into uptown, Ally Charlotte has leased with ease, because of how well it fits into its surroundings.

It’s time for Charlotte to get a new tallest. I feel it’s only a matter of time.

There are many, but for some reason, Charlotteans don’t post here. They prefer Urbanplanet.

Queensbridge Collective broke ground this summer. A 42-story tower, and 35-story tower on the same site.

Nice! Go Charlotte! Didn't this have a different design a few years back? The tower on the left looks like it was similar to the recent design (a hybrid between BMO Tower in Chicago and Park Tower in SF), but the tower on the right looks like it's been redesigned.

I'm not sure as I wasn't following this one very closely, but I figured I would start posting more Charlotte development news on here since nobody else seems to be doing so. There is a ton of construction going on around their uptown and surrounding neighborhoods, so thought it would be good to start sharing some of it.

^ Thank you! There have been disappointments as well, like the 7th and Tryon project falling apart.

1110 East

From Axios Charlotte:

"Work is underway on a 23-story, 370,000-square-foot office building. There will be retail and restaurants on the ground floor and a 900-space parking garage on levels two through 10.

Who: Florida developer Stiles and California real estate firm Shorenstein

Where: Like the name says, 110 East Blvd.

Timeline: The project is on track, nearing the mid-point in construction. It will be ready for occupancy in 2024.

The intrigue: The glass-wall building is uniquely positioned directly on the East/West light rail station platform."

Oof. That's a whole lotta parking right on top of a rail line.

2.4 spaces per 1,000sf. Pretty high indeed - a little lower than what you make expect at a suburban office park, but not by much.

I watched a YouTube video a while back by CityNerd and I think he said Charlotte was one of the Top 10 most Car-centric cities in the U.S. The city has some good walkable areas and neighborhoods, but they are mostly isolated from each other, and in general not very connected. Most people need a car to truly get around.
