Office component is a seperate subarea. That's the parking.

No the phase 1 eastern portion is res AND office. 204k office and the tower is above parking so I’m assuming the portion of the tower next to the office component will contain parking. Essentially the bottom third of the res tower.

It's crazy our meatpacking district is getting taller buildings than the downtowns of fast growing cities like Houston, Dallas, or Atlanta.

But regarding the parking, the amount is a negative, but if its all underground, then it's cool I guess. Above ground parking absolutely kills street activity.

If that's the case, then it seems the podium is facing the train tracks (so not really so detrimental to street activity), and perhaps there are plans to make some of the parking accessible to Metra riders?

The site it too far from a CTA station to qualify for TOD, so they likely have that many parking spots because of zoning

the chance of a new subway line or elevated line (really any heavy rail) is close to zero I would say

at least we have been making logical investments in upgrading the existing infrastructure

A high-quality BRT on Damen and Western would be a great start. Relatively cheap and quick to do, too. Heck, I bet they could partner with Rivian to build electric busses to attract both federal and private investment.

The Circle Line is needed now more than ever, especially with the growth of West Loop, the IMD, and Lincoln Yards. The North/Elston stop would have provided direct connection to Lincoln Yards and really helped facilitate the North Branch's growth. BRT is definitely needed in the near-term, especially with rising transit construction costs.

the skyline is really spreading west. We need some highrises around those parking lots @ UC
