CONFIRMED...

The 909' height is to the top of window washing equipment and doesn't count.

The Aon center observatory and thrill ride delayed again - Chicago Tribune

Can't say I'm mad about this. It would be cool to ride on, but would mess up the crown and facade of one of the best skyscrapers we have. Hoping this is a step towards the plan fizzling out.

Thanks for the update! 896 ft is the official height then

Also, Assemble Chicago (the team w/ Studio Gang) won the C40 competition. With how excellent their proposal is, there really wasn't any competition. 207 affordable units | renovated Pritzker Park | multilevel retail, garden, and meeting space | net-zero energy

What a revelation park tower was after the absolute doldrums of the '90s. That was an excruciatingly boring time to be a scraper fan in Chicago.
Am I smoking something, or was I the only one that remembers a site that Tom had wayyyyy back in the day that listed highrises with renderings?..... Or was that a different site?

If I'm the "Tom" you're referring to, then yes - kinda - it was more of a blog-like update as all the new wave of proposals came in. . . after SSP/SSC/skyscrapers.com came into maturity I stopped doing anything with it. . . I think I still have the original files archived somewhere, but they're all kinda weak compared to today's renderings and whatnot. . .

If I'm not. . . then please feel free to disregard

I really like this one, but I was also rooting for one of the two mass timber proposals. Oh well, maybe someday.

Plymouth rooftop bar will still be around, you can see it in some of the renderings. Only the vacant lot and parking garage will be developed

^I guess props for trying to be different but damn, the Loop deserves such better architectural height and quality than what we've seen the last 15+ years

It's basically 'The Wit' Part Deux, except on Clark instead of State. Same address (201).

I respectfully disagree with you here. For the relatively small changes at the crown/top two floors of the facade, we're getting a gorgeous view down on the city from arguably the best location in the city. I've never understood people's aversion to making what is overall a fairly small change to the exterior of AON, plus I'll admit the exterior glass elevator will be one hell of a ride!

Because part of the beauty of Aon is its symmetry and that elevator is gonna mess it all up.
