Although academic and perhaps wasted effort on my part, but in reference to one of your tower crane images posted on 28 Aug, the forth from last photo titled "well used boom", hope that a person on the team responsible for erecting the tower crane noticed and had replaced the missing retainer pin on the small "figure 8" tie bar link.

Croped and modified photo taken by Harry C. (28 Aug 2011).
good catch - but what you see is an artifact of the post processing SW (Picassa) - here is a recrop of the original where it show a rusty pin.

Pulling the rebar plumb with a wire from the ground while this worker is pushing and pulling it.

A stressfull courner.

All together now - lifing a set of rebar and tying it off.

Plywood for where you don't want to put holes in the forms.

The core emerges.

Happened to be in the area last night, but didn't have ideal equipment. Took some shots anyway Be warned: compositions are pretty ugly, as I had to rest the camera on the concrete ledge for the long exposure. Also f'd up on my WB settings, but tried to fix that in post (with mixed results).

Without further ado:

Awesome, Thanks. This is going to be great, anything to help close the view of the grade separations.

There still seems to be at least a 10 yard gap between the Coast and Tides footprints. Is that strip of property going to still be unbuilt after Coast finishes? Although one of markh9's photos shows formwork being dug into the ground in a very small section of it.

Just curious, why is this so short? This projects looks like it should be a 500 footer, with the 49 stories and such, but it seems it is not.

No, it won't be unbuilt. It will be a parking structure for Coast, with an amenity deck one level above Upper Wacker. The renderings appear to show it as an adjacent structure, not structurally connected to the tower, with little bridges linking the amenity deck into the upper lobby. From a design perspective, it preserves the Miesian ideal of the tower as a pure prism.

Magellan also may want to integrate Coast's parking with the parking for Tides. Breaking the Coast podium into a separate structure would help with the transition.

Some assembly required.

The brackets that will hold the transverse beams

Controls for 2 of the lifting jacks.

Top of one of the pistons, and a swing mount for the inner form wall

Planks to affix the floor/ceiling to

Outer wall is on rollers - allowing space to weave rebar.

All together - from L to R - rolling hanger for outer form wall, rebar for the wall, inner form on swinging mount, and lifting jack.
