Yes we shared the report on ground water on SSP in the last year or two. Packers created a huge drop in the ground water table. I'll see if I can dig it up.

Here's a report. I don't think it's the same one I had last time. But shows a lot of interesting detail. There was a big hole in the aquifer where packers was located.

That is the one I was thinking of.

And here is the one for the Waverly Underpass that also references Winnipeg Ground water levels

No underground parkade at Wawanesa.

The water table is too high.

I guess they could have built over an above-ground parkade to make their new HQ taller.

*Random fact* - Parkade is a Winnipeg word. In Seattle, nobody has ever heard of the term to refer to a parking garage. People in the States always looked puzzled whenever I talked about 'parkades.'

The preferred American nomenclature was 'ramp'..or there's a downtown 'ramp' you can park in.

^And it was The Bay "Parkade" that coined the term.

I did always attribute the term to Canadian French.

I wonder if 'parkades' exist in other Canadian cities or just in Winnipeg?

I always thought it was a pretty classy name for a parking garage.

Like if my deluxe '96 Chrysler New Yorker is going to be parked downtown, it has to be in a 'parkade.'

I think “parkade” is used Canada wide. It’s certainly used in Calgary.
But yes - I get strange looks if I use it with Americans. Kind if like “touque” or “Grade 5” (rather than “5th Grade”).

Parkade is Western Canadian for sure. In Toronto they just call it a parking garage or lot, or say "my car is on P1." If they go west ever they might know what a parkade is, but they definitely don't use it much.

The Hudson's Bay Company department store on Portage Avenue was the first in Winnipeg to construct a parkade, using its existing store parking lot to the south of the building as the base. At the time, it was said to be the only multi-level parking structure between Thunder Bay and Vancouver.

Yup. They're piggybacking with the crane too. It was changed to a luffing jib.
