No announcement yet but I walked by recently. Interior renovations are underway and a sign is up along Congress.

Ah, good to know. They'd had an alcohol permit in the window for almost a full year without any interior movement at all, so I was beginning to wonder if it was a done deal after all.

Not that I really WANT to see a chain take that space, at least it'll subtract from the empty space inventory along Congress.

So we're looking at yet another 600 footer (give or take) that could get going in a year or so:

Sources familiar with the site told Austin Business Journal the property could support about 440,000 buildable square feet or a 50-story tower. DHA Capital would likely build a vertical mixed-use development at the site, with retail on the ground floor and condos or apartments above. The firm has primarily focused on multifamily developments in New York, according to its website.

The downtown Austin building home to Fogo de Chão was purchased out of bankruptcy for $20.1 million. The Brazilian steakhouse plans to move into another location, on the ground floor of The Austonian condo tower.
