I don't know, but I speculate that the Warriors are helping fund it and since they didn't sell many tickets this last year, maybe there is a cash flow issue? it seemed to get underway, then just stopped

MB school

I got sent a notice that the comment period for the EIR for the K-8 school in MB is open. in the doc it says construction start is mid-2023. that may be what we already knew, but I at least needed the reminder

from a walk yesterday...

work along the Creek:

block 9W seen from Third St

Bayfront park site still inactive as far as I can tell (but Chase Center grounds open again)

I have to say that the plantings I saw seemed especially exuberant - not sure if that is a pandemic side-effect or not, but it was noticeable

I don't remember if I mentioned this before, but the wine and cheese shop told us they're trying to get space for a patio right where your picture is. That'd be nice and a great complement to New Belgium down on the other side of the building.

been a while since it has come up, but they have been working on a somewhat significant piece of sewer infrastructure over by the Ramp (Terry Francois Blvd and Mariposa) for some time now. looking forward to that wrapping up soon hopefully

fencing around the intersection with the 19th St extension along the edge of Crane Cove Park has come down, so it is easier to access the park (on foot) from the south now

the roadway itself is still getting its final touches

Fourth St with the Weill Neurosciences building completed

the last portion to open was the street leading back to Third

block 6W has had all its fencing removed as well

so another piece of MB has been filled in, and means that the only construction going on in the MB core at the moment is UCSF's project in the far SE corner and block 9W, also fairly tucked out of sight. probably one of the calmest times in that respect in almost 20 years. (of course, the separation of Mission Rock from Mission Bay is arbitrary, and that is in full swing.)

anyway, nice to have sidewalks back!

the mews between this block and block 6E

^ again, nice shots.

sometimes it's hard to see the progress in the work along the Creek

but they have added dirt to the dug-out areas so maybe they are getting close to wrapping that part up

and we did finally get new sidewalks on the east side of Fourth St that runs along that area. it was one of the few sidewalk stretches that, in all the development over the years, had not been poured in its final form.

on the corner with Channel, I had hoped the open area might turn into something that would engage passers-by, like being seating for a food place or something, but it looks like a school will be going in there, and I assume that means these are the bases for some kind of fencing-off structure, which would be too bad, imo. hope I'm wrong.

I'm a bit perplexed about block 9. I think this is modular construction so should be going up quickly, but I don't see much change since the last time I was by, weeks ago

UCSF's parking garage

looks like the psychiatry center should be wrapping up soon. Third St side

18th St

looking up Tennessee

One de Haro, west side

its back area has gotten some plantings, but not sure what that is supposed to look like in its final version. I seem to remember the renderings had bluish glass divisions or something, not sure if that is still the plan

well, they were removed:

looks like we will get the sidewalk back on the Third St side as well pretty soon

the hotel

I think block 9W is stalled

Weill Institute

UCSF parking garage

can't really tell in this pic, but the psychiatry center is getting some brick at ground floor level along Third, and I think it is improving the overall look

at Crane Cove Park, 'Building 49' is having some preliminary restoration work done before someone comes along and turns it into a kayak rental/maybe café

random other shots of the park

the extension of 19th St is fully open

its intersection with Illinois

it winds around and connects with 20th St

...
some tangible progress by the Creek, as the walk way has been partly poured

and I was not wrong about the fencing going up, sigh

After starting construction on the Block 34 parking garage in April, the neighboring UCSF clinical building at 3rd and Mariposa is now officially underway.

Construction Starts For UCSF Clinical Building At Block 34, Mission Bay, San Francisco
BY: ANDREW NELSON 5:30 AM ON OCTOBER 2, 2021

Clark Construction Group has announced that crews have started construction on the new University of California, San Francisco Clinic Building that will occupy Block 34 in San Francisco’s Mission Bay. The groundbreaking event follows the beginning of construction on a 500-car garage for UCSF in April of this year.

Stantec is responsible for the design. The structure will span 182,800 square feet of floor area. The $335.8 million development. According to Stantec, “Block 34 Clinic Building will provide an architectural identity for the UCSF East Campus that is distinct in appearance and character from the existing UCSF Mission Bay Campus.

The clinic building will rise five floors to contain an ambulatory surgery center with 14 operation rooms, an adult and secondary clinic with facilities for many specialties, an out-patient rehabilitation therapy center, and a pharmacy. The parking garage will span nine levels. The 500 parking spaces will be used by the house administrative offices for UCSF Transporation services.

The two structures are part of UCSF’s development of Block 34, at the corner of 3rd and Mariposa Street. The block has seen the recent completion of the Wayne and Gladys Valley Center for Vision. The new clinic building and parking garage are expected to open by the summer of 2024 . . . .

oh, and I'll throw this one in here - the original China Basin Building has been getting a makeover recently, and part of it are these large structures, which I hadn't noticed till today

The park space / promenade is looking great! I like that the fencing matches the old drawbridges.
