They had to install the garage screening in order to get final CofO by the City and the required sign-offs to occupy the building.

Exactly. That was the foresight, making the North half the ugliest/cheapest they could that would appease the City knowing it would get torn down.

I've been watching it on the webcam. Not sure if I ever recall seeing a crane go up overnight. A little bummed as I wanted to go downtown and watch it go up.

Question for you engineer types. I noticed that some of the support columns for Phase 2 of Phoenix X are split into a 'V' shape. I hadn't seen this in other recent developments. Does anyone have an idea.

Not sure without looking at structural docs. the architect may have wanted a longer span at the entry for various reasons, requiring the columns to be much larger or handle different lateral loads - but since these columns are right at the front and directly on the street they looked for a solution that was a little bit more thoughtfully designed while saving space. That is my guess. Novel on 3rd st has V columns.

I don't remember seeing this rendering of Phase 2 unless I hadn't seen it or just forgotten it.

When it's finished, it will still look like it's not finished! Clever!

Hopefully they end up with some decent retail along Van Buren there, a big brewery or maybe like a brunch spot seems like would be good there, that area could prob use a coffee shop as well, maybe a boutique of some sort.

Apparently the plans have a full restaurant with full service bar on the 9th floor with a dedicated elevator, so I am assuming that will be open to the public as well but not sure.

Construction halted.

X Companies have stalled on multiple of their projects across the country with no commentary.

This has been talked about in another thread. They have only halted a project in Houston I believe. They are currently building X Roosevelt up the street. Only commentary is the CEO said he hopes to resume X Phoenix soon.

I mentioned it because X Tampa has also showed signs of stalling, with no commentary. I'm not sure what's going on with the inner workings of X Companies, but it isn't looking good financing wise.

All of their projects across the U.S. under construction (except X Roosevelt) now have appeared to have halted with no sign of any start.
