I walked by there this morning but didn't think about snapping a picture. Quite a bit of concrete has already been poured, including one for a crane base.

The Jag Hotel has posted some new photos of their planned expansion on their Instagram page. The layout is pretty much the same but the design has been toned back slightly. The original design was much cooler with funky looking windows but the new design is ok too with normal windows.

Certainly a step backwards, the old windows plus glass top certainly are nicer than the current renders. That being said, it's not a major game changer like the design changes to the Garden Inn were if you remember that horrible middle design they proposed.

Yeah I agree. It’s totally a step backwards but not surprised. They probably are trying to cut costs somewhat now after losing so much revenue during the last two years of the pandemic. Should still be a nice addition to that part of Water Street. Now if only someone would buy that hideous corner lot where the Hempstore originally occupied and put something nice there.

Any more updated pictures of the construction site? Curious to see how far up they are now?

There is upward progress being made on site, concrete was about 10 feet in the air when I drove by a few weeks ago.

I wish JAG would point a web cam at the site so we can all keep track of the progress.

I don't know if this has been noted already but I was looking at the Olympic Construction website and the image they have for the expansion is different again compared to the original images and the ones posted by JAG back in August. To be honest I think the Olympic one is my favorite. I wonder which one they are going with.

Noticed that the brickwork on the lower floors of the building is well underway, though it's a bit obscured by everything else going on there right now.

Once the zoning is changed [if approved] then they will be granted up to 10 storeys anyway so they wouldn't have to go through much of an approval process from council. This could be an attempt at keeping the height-NIMBYS at bay ("well it's only 9 floors not 10").
Something that got missed. The original design does differ ever so slightly than the updated designs that were posted last summer. But one thing that we didn't notice; the updated design does indeed have an additional floor and increased height. I'm actually counting 11 floors in the latest design.

Construction has begun on the final, top floor of the Jag, so it's pretty close to being topped out.
